Just bought my first "real" telescope, a Celestron 130.  We are looking forward to getting out under some dark skies to see what we can see!  Anyone else enjoying star gazing?

Hi, we love sitting watching the stars. Currently just use our binoculars but have thought several times about a telescope we have one at home here and have seen several comets and the planets. Be interested in how you get on with yours. The most amazing thing I have seen was a blue ring nebula when on Mauna Kea. It was incredible. Keep us posted!

Been overcast and rainy here for many days... But tonight the sky opened and Jupiter is bright and right to the South in my sights at the CG.
Wish I was home without all this light pollution.

I use the "star map" app on my droid around the fire pit to amaze my friends.  ;D

We were watching the milky way from Glacier Point at Yosemite and saw the planet, wasn't sure if it was Saturn or Jupiter and forgot to check,  so thanks for the info!

Find a dark sky site and enjoy! SkEye Pro for Android is great for finding and observing, while Cartes du Ceil for Windows is awesome for planning an evening watch.

Make a Denver observer's seat, you'll be glad you did! http://www.valleystargazers.com/Chair.pdf

I always bring my Celestron C8. The most awesome experience was 2015 in Canyon Lands. Saturn's rings were awesome and I never have seen the Andromeda galaxy so bright. I also like to point it to the moon during the day. The moon is aways fun. Too bad that the conditions like weather and light pollution are rarely inviting, but when they are, it is worth it.
I also bring a good microscope with me.
