Hi, i just got off the phone with a rep from pillpack (mail order pharmacy).  I hate driving 30 miles one way to wallgreens and so i was really impressed with what the rep told me they could do for me and the way they handle my medications.  It seems safe and hassle free.  But i have always been not only hessitant about changes but also hessitant about things i have found on the net, too many people have been hurt or worse when things on the net go south.

I also want to ask my Dr. about them.  I think Amazon just bought the company.

Anyone use them good and bad experiences please ?

Are they a mail order pharmacy? I really don?t like my medicines sitting in a hot or cold mailbox. Most of my meds needs to be kept at basically extended roomtemps, 50-85 or so. I can guarantee my mailbox gets both colder and hotter than that. Your meds may be different.

Yes sorry they are a mail order pharmacy. oops...

They say they ship pretty quickly and they dont ship to PO boxs so for me it would go to the RV park office which has AC.  But im not sure about the truck delivering the items.

I dont mind alittle bit of inconvenience if it saves me $40 a month on gas.  I used to store my meds here in the trailer in a cabinet at the end of the trailer which i learned not too long ago got really hot in the afternoon.  I have since moved them but during the time they were there they seemed fine after i took them.

Can't you get a 90 day supply at your pharmacy?
Are any of your prescriptions narcotic?
Do you qualify for VA prescriptions?
Do you have a RX plan?

If you answer these questions then maybe I can answer yours

Yes i can get 90days for some but not all
No narcotics, i got off hard pain killers years ago due to the harm they do to the liver.  I switched to ibuprofin instead which does less damage over time.
No VA benefits, i spent 8 years in the Army but due to my class and active duty time i dont qualify.  The rules have changed since that time.
Yes i have a medicare RX plan.

Yes i have a medicare RX plan.
Since none are opiates I would hope all the rest could be 90 days
Pillpack seems to be  nice option as your daily Meds are portioned out for you, Not to useful if you take 1-2 Meds a day but really nice for those who are one multiple Meds multiple times a day. Prevents over and under dosing. This is similar to what most nursing homes have been doing for years.

That said do you know anyone who goes to Mexico for any reason. If so you can bring back a six month supply of most Meds that are non opiate.
Thousands of Canadians cross the border every winter to buy Meds in Mexico.
All in all if pill pack gives you a savings I see nothing wrong with it in fact I am thinking about it for MY wife who is on multiple Meds multiple times a day

We get our meds through Express Scripts which is mail order. We have been very happy with their service. Very easy to order refills online. If a prescription needs renewed they will contact your Dr. for you.

They also have a phone app if that is more convent for you than using a computer.

You get an email when they receive your order. Another email when your order ships.

Just another option.

My parents use express scripts as well, but somehow i just thought it was private and for retired military as part of their benefits.  I had no clue it was for the general public as well.

Im still on the fence here.... i keep going back to an old saying, "if it works dont fix it". But then i get upset when i have to spend so much on fuel every month. Especially when none of my fuel is ever used for enjoyment purposes.  If it was not for Dr. visits, grocery store, mail, and fuel i would probably never go anywhere lol ..

I use Express Scripts also and like it very much.  Very convenient while traveling.  My doc writes the prescription for 90 days supply plus 3 refills.  When the refills get to zero you just reorder online and Express Scripts gets the OK from the doc.  I can order from anywhere on line and have it sent right to the campground I am at.  Anybody can buy an Express Scripts policy.

I get my meds from Humana Mail Order Pharmacy as part of my Med Sup.  Some I get from the VA, all come in 90 day supplies.  My wife gets Nexium from India via a Canadian Pharmacy also mail order.

We have been doing this since 2012 and no problems.

I use a mail order and am happy with it.  My only concern is to make sure you called them and someone didn't call you (SCAM WARNING).  If they did call you and you want to use them just look their number up and call them from a trusted number.  That way you know it isn't someone trying to collect your identity.

There are many home delivery prescription services - your Rx Plan insurer probably has one of their own or one they partner with.  Express Scripts is a common one, and CVS offers home delivery on all the prescriptions they fill. So does Walgreens, via the Alliance Rx service.

We used Aetna's home delivery pharmacy when we traveled  a lot and they arranged delivery wherever we were at the time.  Also used CVS for awhile. Could even get specialty drugs that way (but not Class I narcotics).

Thanks everyone, really good info and lots of choices.  Ill just really have to decide if i want the online deal first, then ill have to make a choice.  I will call my medicare RX plan as well to see if they offer it.

:)

I use Humana Pharmacy (mail order pharmacy) and one drug that I use has to be refrigerated.  They send it in a styrofoam box with frozen ice packets.  I'm sure that they would last for several days.  I just toss the styrofoam container and the ice packets in the trash.  Kind of a waste but they don't seem to want them back.
