I have a toaster oven that I use for everything I cook in an oven that will fit in the toaster oven. For example, I bake cookies in it if I'm baking only three or four. I calculated how much electricity a batch of three sugar cookies uses if baked in the toaster oven: .13 kwh. That's not much at all, and I'm sure it would be much more if I used the microwave/convection oven.
My toaster oven is at least 25 years old, and relatively small. One great feature is that it fits in my propane oven for storage, so it takes up countertop space only when I'm using it. I'm dreading the day when it dies because from what I can tell they don't make any that small any more--the clearances for sliding it into the propane oven opening are VERY tight.
I've used my propane oven once in over 20 years of fulltiming. I use the microwave/convection oven quite often, but on the convection setting only if I'm cooking something bit, like a 9x13 pan that won't fit in the toaster oven.
I'd be interested in an air fryer but don't know where I would keep it, and I like having as little as possible that has to be secured for travel. My lamps, for example, are held down by museum gel.
