I know you have seen the commercials and I just got an email for a special on the hose that automatically recoils to almost nothing.

Has anyone bought one - I hate to throw $20.00 away! But the email special, is buy one get one free.....

Seems like it would be a perfect hose to keep in the Rv for washing things down and for when you need a hose other than for your water supply??

Just thought I would ask, before hitting the "Buy" button!

I looked at these at RV show in Tampa and they are quite impressive on an arena floor. The park we are in now in Florida I just imagined the dirt it would pick up when it recalled and how would you clean it? They advertise in carports and concrete driveways but they aren't good for in the loose dirt in my opinion.

I have thought about getting one but the same thing struck me. I'll stick with good old vinyl hoses that can be rinsed off.

If it sounds too good...blah blah blah....

At least you can use it as tow rope.. so they say..  8)

Ah the hell with it, I am ordering one and getting one free....I will report back. I will try not to drag it in the dirt and of course I realize it is not for potable water, but I will use it for washing the RV, the truck, rinsing the sewer hose and other small projects when I need a hose, heck lightweight, easy to store and half the price of most stiff plastic hoses that are hard to store and get all tangled up...if it does half of what it is supposed to do it will be perfect as a utility hose!

More later....

The speed up the video a fair bit as well, would be nice to know how long it takes to 'retract'.

Wish this hose was the ONLY thing I bought at the Tampa show ha ha! I have used it few times...does retract quickly...and picks up dirt...I would buy one again!

I'm thinking back to my childhood....and all the hoses we drank out of that were not intended for potable water.....yikes!  Good thing we're still breathing.    ;)

Do report back once you've test driven the new hose.

See this previous discussion that includes Jerry and Ardra's comments about the hose.

Same here Bird.
I recently spent two weeks at Disney World and I could not carry enough bottled water with me so I was forced into drinking out of water faucets on several occasions. I could not believe how bad the water tasted. Like it was pumped straight from the sewer. Really bad sulfur smell.

Most of Florida has really bad water...St Petersburg has the best water in the state according to several surveys and I still ran it through my Brita before drinking it. My Brita makes even bad tasting water taste ike bottled water, so I just run everything through the Brita before I even consider drinking it.

A couple months ago I was in a hotel in LA and took a drink of water before bed and it was horrible. Had to hit the mini-bar to get the taste out of my mouth, that's my excuse and I am sticking to the story!

I try to avoid drinking tap water at all costs, have been surprised with horrible taste too many times.

BTW - I just got an email about the hose I ordered - got two for the price of one but the freight, which they don't list when you order online was $20.97!! So there went my free hose....In reality the freight paid for the "free hose".

So my new  second hose is for sale if anyone is interested....19.95 plus 19.95 for freight! LOL

Typical mail order scam! Hopefully I will be happy with the hose, look for an update to this thread when it gets here!

I bought one of the hoses at Bed, Bath, and Beyond while shopping with the DW. I'm usually pretty
skeptical when it comes to the "As seen on TV" products, but so far (two car washings), the hose has performed as advertised,
I bought the hose to use as my black tank rinse hose as it doesn't take up much room compared to my cheap 50' vinyl hose.

Neighbor bought two locally (50' and 25') and tried to stretch the 50' a little to far, it exploded at the hook-up.  He takes responsibility for the failure.

The 25' is working fine and its neat to watch it contract on itself.

That is a great use for the hose. Thanks for sharing!

I have a burning need to know what makes a hose "potable", besides the fact that it's white. I have wetted my whistle from regular garden hoses since I learned water came from them and I'm still kicking. I've heard "lead", but green hoses don't appear on the EPA hit list.
