I would like to install an auxiliary fuel tank in 2018 Ram 2500 with the gas engine.  I pull a TT and have a leer cap on the truck. Is it possible (legal) to have an auxiliary tank with this configuration and what are the different options

Thanks

I have a 75 gallon Transfer Flow auxiliary Diesel tank in the bed of my truck and would highly recommend their systems.  They also have systems for gas trucks.  Below is a link to their web site.

I can not speak to the legal issue, but I would not want a large gas tank in an unvented area like that.

One other point is that the weight of the tank and the fuel in it must be deducted from your Payload.  If you have plenty of excess payload, no problem.  If you are close on Payload, BIG PROBLEM!

Transfer Flow has a number of Gasoline options such as larger replacement fuel tanks.  The extra weight does need to be considered.  My tank full of fuel weighs about 725 lbs.  My truck is almost at Maximum payload capacity when fully loaded and hooked up to the trailer.

Thanks for the replies.  I agree I did not like the idea of a gas tank under the cap.  I appreciate the lead to transfer flow and will check them out.

Don't know your mechanical ability, but if the truck was available to order new with an auxiliary tank, maybe you could get the tank and required valves and plumbing from a wrecking yard.
