My 2009 navion backup camera quit showing picture, I believe the cable connector near camera went bad. It is for sure bad now. Can’t find information on replacing cable end and don’t want nightmare of replacing cable. Has anyone had this happen and added a wireless one?
I want any information on which one to buy, and get one with monitor, or bluetooth, or wifi connection to cell phone? Thank you.

What brand is the monitor? Tim at rvcams.com was always my go-to guy for all things about RV cams.

Our OEM backup camera was pretty useless. Grain, low res B&W. Wanted a decent resolution camera with color. Was determined to go with a wired one until a tech guy described what he used-- a wireless unit. Works great for him.

So I bought it and have been very pleased. Great picture with no interruptions of glitches of any kind, and always on which is nice.

It was this model but no reason to believe that any other comparable model would work just as well.

this is the original. The one you recommend looks good. Could use one of the two for dash cam, if I get 2. How do you recharge the backup one?
Thank you for advice!

You can probably buy a plug and play (wired) color monitor and cam, that's my first choice vs wireless. Call rvcams (I referenced them) and ask about options.

I bought a wired monitor with two cameras. It came with 3 cables. I cut the ends off one of the cables and spliced them to the existing cable in our motorhome. It works perfectly. Google Rohent dual RV backup system upgraded. On sale for $79.99.

If thinking about the Furrion Observation camera system, then get the 7 inch monitor.

BUT (yea, there is always a "but")

The rear camera is notorious for creating a foggy looking image over time. But, the camera system itself works well. I've had mine for over 6 years now. Other than a foggy screen, it's great!

I have the side cameras also. Interesting though, they do not fog up.

There is a simple solution to resolve the fog, but I've not done it yet. I keep meaning to, but just haven't done it yet. (lazy I suppose). I end up using the drivers side rear view camera the most though.

Some folks love the Furrion, some folks hate them. They are not blue tooth capable though, and they do not work with any other system. And they do cost a small fortune.

That is the pros and cons.

We use an affordable (less than $100) DoHonest V35 True Wireless Backup Camera system that we feel far outperforms the much more expensive Furrion or TadiBrothers systems often touted about on social media. The DoHonest V35 True Wireless Backup Camera system is totally wireless and this HD day/night vision camera has a solar panel making it fully mobile which enables it to be used for BOTH backing up our Casita trailer and for remote surveillance monitoring of our camp area surroundings from within our Casita trailer during daytime and nighttime.

My Furrion camera became foggy in less than two years. The lens had what looked like a cataract. I tried all sorts of plastic polishes and nothing helped.
I visited a local jeweler and asked what he used to polish watch crystals.
He said they use jewelers rouge. He gave me a small amount. I figured I can't make it worse.
It worked like a charm. I used a dremel tool with the cloth buffing wheel at low speed.
I think Furrion, or the Chinese company that makes then put some kind of coating on the lens.
6 years later and still clear.
