We stayed at the Badlands/White River KOA just outside Interior. Very nice park but next time we will stay at the Badlands Ranch Resort & Campground just a couple of miles up the road. It's about a mile down an unpaved road off 44 but worth it. Very nice park with a killer view plus it's a PA park. The other parks in Interior are the pits.

Only about 5% or less of the people who visit Badlands take the Rim Road. Too bad, because that's where all the wildlife can be seen. It's an unpaved road which is OK dry but can be messy wet. Go as far as the western park campground (can't remember the name) and turn around or continue on an unpaved road to 44.

Shhhh don't get too much interest into the rim road we wouldn't want them to ruin it by paving it.

Bruce,

For those that may be "Geographically Challenged", or just starting out, could you tell us where Badlands National Park is.  It's one of those things that you hear often enough, but when asked, you say "uh, uh, uh, wait, let me whoop out Mapquest"!
  ???
Thanks

Badlands NP is in South Dakota east of the Black Hills on the south side of I-90.  It is a great park especially right after a rain or even if it is raining while there.  The rain brings out all the different colors and you get some really great pictures.
