Based on info that I read here, when it was time to replace the batteries in my Montana,  I used two 6V batteries from Costco.  I intended to eventually install 4, but I'm concerned about the weight.

Are there any disadvantages to using 2 x 6V instead of 2 x 12V?

thanks,
Phil

Phil:

Most 12 volt RV/Marine type deep cells that Costco/Walmart sells have on the order of 85 amp/ hours of storage capacity. Expensive deep cycle 12 volts get that up to 175 a/hs or so but two good 6v golf cart batteries are 225 a/ hrs.

Sorry, I was trying to say the 6 volts are better. Usually four work great if you have the room. Do you know the charging amperage of your charger?

In a late model Keystone I would expect to see at least a 60 amp charger but if it was a 40-50 and you ran four 225 amp/hour batteries down to 50% you would have to run a gen for 5 plus hours to recharge them.

He's right you might recover most of the charge back in a short amount of time but to actually bulk up the batteries you'll need to charge for good 4-5 hours to get a full charge back. Batteries are slow to chemically recharge.
