Best Adhesive Tape for Replacing RV Skylights?

Own a 2015 Forest River Rockwood Hard Side Pop Up, Model A122. The original polycarbonate skylight domes are discolored and cracking with age. To prevent leaks, epoxy repair and re-chalking is constant. These appear to be identical to the newer units, being not screwed down and just placed over the openings with the flanges being stuck on with some type of adhesive and edges chalked for adherence and water proofing.

Plan to order new ones soon, but cannot find reliable information on how to stick on and seal prior to chalking. Would guess some type of waterproof double sided adhesive tape with permanent adhesion to both the skylight and roof surface. Being they expand and contract with temperature, imagine it should be flexible and have a little thickness to fill gaps.

Any recommendations as to a name brand material from someone who has experience with this?

Thanks,
George

I'm not familiar with your brand of trailer but surprised if the skylight is only held with adhesive. Typically the skylight is bedded in a caulk, sometimes in the form of butyl tape, with screws at each corner. Then a self-leveling sealant is generously applied at the edges.

3M makes several industrial grade mounting tapes, e.g. Scotch Mount Extreme and 3M VHB. Also 3M's automotive product, 3M Molding Tape, used to install trim on modern vehicles. Gorilla also makes a heavy duty, Gorilla Mounting Tape Max.

My son had a Rockwood pop-up, 2006 model several years ago and the only difference in the way his skylight was mounted from what Gary just described is that his had 3 additional mounting screws per side, for a total of 16 screws. And it was bedded in butyl tape.

Use butyl tape on the roof, then put the skylite on. Screw it down, you don’t need to crank the screws down because this is the way you crack the flange. Then you can either use dicor or you can use eternabond tape.
