I think I may need a new holding tank vent (see photo)

These are the ones I?m looking at for the black tank

Anyone have these? Are they snake oil?

I?m thinking I can get a $6-$10 one for the grey tank because it shouldn?t smell as bad... right? https://www.amazon.com/Lippert-Components-389381-Plumbing-Siphon/dp/B01CZQ9Y6M/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=lippert+components+389381+360+siphon+roof+vent+cap&qid=1563140302&s=gateway&sr=8-1

No personal experience but I have read reviews on the siphon vent that seem positive

I have this one in white.  Works good.

I have used these for years.

I cannot remember ever having odor issues from the vent.

I think that the science of the Venturi effect is sound.

Go with the 360 Siphon, just put them on both Gray Water & Black tank.  Make sure you use self leveling adhesive.  Check out the Utube videos on the 360...

Jey, I'd try fixing the one you have. Just get a 2 part epoxy cement at a hardware store and reattach it. Then put the cover back on.

That plastic looks pretty brittle to me, Rene. I think replacement would be the better long term option...

I didn't open the link, but I've looked at several differnt types before so I can imagine what you are seeing too...
honestly, I agree with Rene...mostly.  My basic model caps have served me just fine too.
Those fancy ones have seemed like a solution in search of a problem to me....
but
I can imagine that depending on aerodynamic oddities, some installations might have the vent pipe mounted in such a way as to cause venting or pressure problems while under way....or in a wind....in which case those things look like a great idea!

I ended up with the 360 siphon for the black tank and a regular $10 one for the grey tank

My issue is the pipe coming out of the black tank sits about 2? too tall for the 360 siphon

Is there any issue if I were to cut off some of the top of the black tank pipe?

None at all. Before I would cut it, I'd try to push down on it just a little to see if it will go into your tank further. Don't push hard. If it's sealed real good, you don't want to break the seal.

You should put a bead of Dicor around the vent pipe where it passes through the roof.  If there's an air gap tank odors can seep into the space between the roof and the inside ceiling.

I've noticed that when I'm under way, even if I've just dumped and flushed the tanks, if I open the driver's or passenger's side windows, the entire coach will start to stink.  If we leave the windows closed it seems to be okay.  I've been thinking of changing to the siphon caps to try and draw the fumes up the pipe instead of out into the coach.
