Given all the frequent and ongoing road closures and construction delays, I'd make sure I avoided large cities at rush hours, and use Google maps to select the quickest route. Remember the best route is not always the quickest.

I-90 to I-84 to I-91 to I-691 to I-84 to I-684 to I-287 to I-95 to I-295. Over the Delaware Memorial Bridge to Route 301, follow to Richmond and south on I-95 to I-26.

Avoid NYC, Philly, Baltimore and DC.

Hi, We are planning a trip from boston to Charleston, SC. Any ideas on best route
and times to take to avoid traffic?
We prefer going out the pike to 81 then down to 64. This route isn’t too bad with the mountains and avoids the cities. A good overnight is the Mohegan Sun Pochonos Casino. Allows overnight parking and they have a few good restaurants. Park in lot D away from the trucks in Lot E. Stay near Monticello and check that out then overnight at Rv Resort Carolina Crossroads.
