Bill to stop the National Weather from Reporting weather

Just read about this Bill on weather underground. ? ?
It may soon be illegal for the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue non-severe weather forecasts under the provisions of the National Weather Service Duties Act of 2005, Senate Bill S.786, introduced April 14 by Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa.

Ron,

I totally disagree with that bill, BUT:

Why can't we have a similar bill to privatize the USPS ??? ???  Most businesses and private citizens use other carriers for package/parcel delivery now, and our $.37 first-class mail (I'm biting my tongue on that one) does, IMHO, little more than subsidize all the bulk (read SPAM) mailers!!!

Obviously the Junk Mailers have a lot of pollitical clout.  I agree the general public should not be charged higher prices for mail so the junk mailers can clutter our mail boxes at less cost.

I will be writing to let them know of my opposition to the bill.

Thanks for the link about the bill to privitize weather news, primarily for the benefit of Accuweather and the Weather Channel.
I will join you in opposing this bill.
