I have driven through it a few times, all years ago, but I never could find a place to park, even for a small RV. I would like to walk around there for an hour or two.

Does such a place for an RV to park exist in or close to Bisbee, AZ?

Looking on Google Maps aerial views and street views. At the east end of town is the Queen Mine RV Park, if you are staying. Its adjacent to the Queen Mine tours and City Visitor center, but parking looks very limited and tight at the visitor center and mine tour. The RV park only has about 25 spaces in a 3/4 circle facing a larg open space in the center. On the outer edge of the loop where 80 and Main st/Tombstone Canyon Rd split, there is a Free city parking lot but only about 15 spaces and nothing larger than a pickup. Just inside the loop across from the free parking is Mile High Pay parking, the sign says "cars and small trucks only" but in the street view there is a large food truck parked there.

Just up Brewery St a block or so is a wedge of parking spaces between Brewery and an alley with front to rear spaces (right in front of the Bisbee Inn. There are no stop blocks so you could pull thru and take two spaces end to end if it is not busy. I don't see any signs, I think it is city parking. There is lots of on street parking for cars.

Directly across Tombstone Canyon Rd/Main St from the pay lot is the Mining museum and it has a block or more of parallel parking in front of it Again, if not busy, you could nab two spaces fairly easily. There are tons of on street parking and many small lots but nothing you could turn a motorhome around in unless the lots were very empty. There is what appears to be a gravel lot just to the west side of the public pool that is accessed off of Higgins Ave, which is off of Quality Hill Rd. The area is quite large and smooth, and a sign on Higgins at the lot entrance says "no turn around beyond here" But that lot is a long walk from the old town area (6 tenths of a mile from there down Tombstone Canyon/Main St to the entrance of the Mining Museum across the street from the pay lot.

Try calling the RV Park and ask what parking for the day might cost if they have spaces, or just stay the night. ($50 full hook up)

Google street view is dated Nov 2024 and they did a good job, even driving thru the parking lots including at least one pay lot.

Apparently that town does not expect tourists in motor homes.

The town looks like a neat place to visit.

Yes, I noticed that too, the last time I drove through Besbee, which I think was in the year 2017. But no place had room for a 26' motorhome.

At the east end of town is the Queen Mine RV Park, if you are staying.
That is an option that I will probably have to do to check the place out. Thanks.

Don, the following might be worth checking out:

We took our 25 foot MH and toad and went down Erie St to where the Bisbee Breakfast Club is located, there is a large parking lot there where we left the MH and took the toad back up to the main part of town although it is less than a mile walk. You could eat at Bisbee Breakfast Club and mention it to them but the parking lot actually serves several businesses and we didn't bother as it was a slow time.

There is also a big lot at Main and OK St and the sign does say cars, light trucks and vans only but if it's slow he might not care. We had trouble one time at the pay station and we called the phone number and the guy came right down and apologized and refused to even let us pay, and he even gave us a little gift of some sort of kitchen tool, most everyone there is very easy going and friendly.

One thing you don't want to do is get trapped on some of those steep, narrow streets in a motorhome, some of the climbs are extreme.

Bisbee has several big events like the Coaster Races and the Bisbee 1000 and and when one of those is happening I wouldn't attempt to bring a large RV through town but one of those electric motorbikes would be perfect.

Thanks. This trip will most likely be all RV parks.

I will stay at that RV park in Bisbee for at least a few days. I will book it while on the trip from Wherever, AZ. There are several places I want to visit on my next trip into AZ. The Patagonia RV Park is among them. So is the Wild West RV Park.

I have never stayed at any of these three RV parks.

I just need to get to the RV park there, and from there it will be mostly on foot or an electric motorcycle. I will spend a few days there in Bisbee.

I am not sure if the place is worth a few days, but I can always find something to do just about anywhere.

Boy I have stories about Patagonia. I used to camp at the state park when it was all dirt. The main attraction there was the lake, and on weekends it can get pretty packed with tourists from MX however that may have changed in these recent times. You can rent small boats there too.

As you leave Lake Patagonia headed East on HWY 82 before you reach the Patagonia town limits watch for a pullout loop on the right with a lot of trees. If you park at the East end there is a rock staircase with a pipe railing that leads up the side of the mountain to an old holding cell with iron bars that was used in the old days when prisoners were being transported by horse. Now it is used as a memorial and locals put veladoras (religious candles) in there for their lost loved ones.

Many years ago I worked in a butcher shop and made the acquaintance of Mr. Harold Thurber, PO Box 1, Sonoita AZ. He was one of the early ranchers out here and one day we were talking and I mentioned Patagonia State Park to him and he told me that he had sold that land to the state in 1937 so they could dam up the river and make a state park. He was 93 when he told me this and that was back in the 1980's.

He also told me that he had lunch with actor Tom Mix at the Santa Rita Hotel downtown Tucson in 1940 and that afternoon Tom took off for Phoenix in his yellow Cord where he died on the Florence highway after rolling the Cord. Harold told me they had had a few drinks over lunch! Harold was quite a character and he used to drive the highways in a big Ford LTD with HB1 on the license plate and the word was that the local law never bothered him for speeding.

Almost forgot there is a preserve along the Sonoita Creek outside Patagonia that is world known for bird watching.

also Double Adobe in Mclean. If you shoot, they have trap, sporting clays etc.

The Queen Mine Rv park is plenty large for big rigs. We have stayed there many times in a 39' diesel motorhome. The road from the Queen Mine parking lot is short it is a little narrow but very doable. Once up the road there is very wide area for rvs for parking or turning around. Loved being there. Had a lot of fun in Bisbee. Go you you'll have fun.

How long has that RV park been in Bisbee? It has been around 8 years since I drove through there.

I expect to leave here in less than a week.

Well before 2007. It is right beside the Queen Mine Tour. To get to it you turn into the Queen mine tour entrance. Go basically straight through the Queen Mine tour parking lot and straight toward the mountain. The road goes from the parking road level along side the mountain to the left and up. The park is about 120 ft up the road. The first time we went there I walked up the road to see how large the area parking lot was before I drove up.. Didnt want to get up there and find no room to turn around. Plenty of room.
Hard to see the park unless you look for it. If you are coming from Tombstone/ Sierra Vista and come down through the tunnel- you continue down the long downhill highway. As you get down to where the highway levels out- to your left will be the downtown area to the right will be the Queen Mine. The RV park is to the left and up from the parking lot.
Have Fun let me know if you go or have any questions. Oh, try Cafe Roka makes reservations exceptional not cheap but not stupid expensive either. Safe Travels

I will probably try it as long as I do not need to make a reservation.

In another forum, somebody mentioned Screaming Banshee Pizza in Bisbee. Have you been there?

I will probably try both. I expect to leave within a week or so, but I have a couple of things to wait for here.

Thanks for all the info.

I have and it was very good. Another place is the old mercantile, its pretty good. The one place thats been terrible for years was a mexican food restaurant- Santiago. Go figure some of the worst mexican food I've ever was 5 miles from the Mexican border.

The best Mexican meal I have had was on a cruise ship many years ago, but it was not what most Americans would think of as Mexican. It was mainly lobster and other seafood.

I will probably have to try the Santiago too, just to see if I will agree that the Santiago Restaurant is lousy. I will not be expecting much. I was just looking at their menu:

Looks like many agreed with you, and I no longer need to try it, because:

Best Mexican meal in the area is in Benson! Mi Casa, center of town. Wouldn't drive from Bisbee to Benson, but worth a lunch stop on the way from 10 to Bisbee.
I thionk you have been there before?
