Not to hijack this thread so if you want to PM me go ahead.  What's going on in Borrego Springs this time of year.  WAAAAAAYYY back in the day I used to four-wheel the springs with my Toyota L.C.  Did the Terra Del Sol desert safari held in March a couple of times.  Just curious.

Alk, we stopped to see Wendy and Mike.  We've been in AZ for 3 weeks and are headed back to CA so decided to do a side trip.  The park is beautiful.  This is our first time camping here.  My F250 is a 4x4 but it's suspension and long wheelbase don't make for great off roading.

There's tons to do in the valley. Hiking, regular and 4WDs in Anza Borrego Desert State Park, visiting all the Sky Art sculptures scattered around the valley, sitting around enjoying the sunsets. There are ranger and volunteer led hikes and talks. Drive out to Salton City. It's a great place.

As Wendy said, there's tons of stuff to do in Anza Borrego.  Not the least of which is pretending our F250 4x4 is a tow truck and offering to pull a Lexus sedan out of some deep sand.  Long story short, we tried and almost ended up needing a tow ourselves.  I guess a loaded F250 that weighs 8,500 lbs isn't designed for deep sand.  Who knew?  At least we made some new friends and were treated to a beer and nachos.

But we sure had a lot of fun ! Even before the beer and nachos :) BTW, that pretty red Ford truck had a better shot at pulling the Lexus out of the sand than Sunshine the VW would have had !
