brake controller on chevrolet

had an appointment with GOLDEN GAIT trailer in concord nc to have a brake controller installed on my 2012/2013 chevrolet 4500 class c motorhome. first we find that even though it had 7 pin plug on the back next to the 5000 lb hitch reciever. it did not have the trailer brake wire run to it. that blew the estimate. finally ( after drivers seat had to be removed to get to the fuse box) we discover the NEW chevy has a system that don't like brake controlers. yes chevy knows how to fix this but won't share with golden gait. now to chevy dealer. yes they can attach the one wire to make it work. just $55 to do it. took them 1 1/2 hours to attach the wire.they only charged me the 55 that we agreed on. seems they had to call detroit or china or finland to make sure they did it right.
just saying if you are going to use 4500 chevy cutaway motorhome and pull a trailer with brakes....BEWARE
the brake switch that would normally be accessed to ativate the trailer brakes is now a position sensor(reostat). trailer brake now goes through the body control module or the cigar lighter or something.

nothing that $5oo.00 can't. plus a full day and 1/4 take of fuel.

On my 2011 Chevy 2500 Duramax was the same deal. There is an 8mm studd by the fuse box with no nut on it. If you look under the fuse box down near the black inner fender you will find a wire folded back wrapped in black electrical tape with the prpoper size terminal on it for the 8mm stud. There is another wire and terminal taped back as well  which goes on the smaller terminal beside the 8mm stud. Interestingly enough the two wires aren't that close together but are there. I would expect if they  connected for $55.00 it was exactly the same as I described.
