Sad saga... Sure glad we spent a couple years researching RV options and thinking deeply about what we really wanted...
We learned quickly that Camping World is best avoided. We learned that buying RVs from dealerships will cost you more money and could also be very problematic depending on the dealership. We learned that any dual core panel RV will eventually develop a moisture issue and have a relatively short life. We learned that a RV steel frame doesn't have a finite cyclic fatigue failure life and isn't prone to salted road corrosion failure like an aluminum frame.
We convinced ourselves that aerodynamic, lightweight, small and cozy was what we really desired and this would also enable economical and fast travel to nicer places as opposed to being limited to staying in expensive RV parks having behemoth RVs that block the sun and view, and often run their noisy ACs and their smelly generators much of the time. Cozy and small works well for us as we are a loving couple and spend as much time as possible outdoors and not inside a RV. An aerodynamic, lightweight and small trailer enables only needing an aerodynamic, lightweight and small tow vehicle (which can then also be detached and used independently when camping) which then maximizes MPG thereby reducing travel cost. We learned that small RVs can be made with a single core fiberglass shell, are aerodynamic and lightweight, don't have moisture issues at all, will therefore last a long time, are more economically repaired if damaged than any other type of RV, and hold their value better than any other type of RV.
After all our research, we selected a 2023 Casita Liberty Deluxe travel trailer having an empty weight of 2480 pounds, length of only 17 feet and which only cost $24k at the time. Casita only does factory direct sales in Rice Texas and has been doing this since 1980. We had to wait 9 months after ordering before we could pick up our trailer because of limited supply and high demand for these trailers. However, we couldn't be happier with this trailer and this trailer manufacturer. We specifically selected this model as it had a king size bed, kitchen and wet bathroom (which we prefer having been sailors and wilderness campers). We then modified our trailer to make it cat friendly and to enable long-term dry camping in remote locations.
Anyhow, that was our approach to creating "Los Gatos Casita". We recognize different people have different goals and therefore different associated use cases. Everyone has to figure that out themselves and then find the RV that will accomplish this mission and obtain it from a reputable source.
