Can I tow this 5th wheel with my Silverado 1500?

I find it interesting that so many still use terms like 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton. They don't really apply anymore. You can get an F150 decked out from Ford that can handle way more than 1/2 ton and aftermarket accessories let them do even more. If all you go by is general rules that you should have a certain type of truck to tow a certain type of RV you are rolling the dice. It is best to get the exact specs of everything and base your decisions on those.
What "after marketaccessories let them do even more"? Airbags and such dont change payload an F150 is a half ton the same as an F250 is a 3/4 ton your comments make no sense sorry

A 2024 f150 can tow up to 13,500 lbs with the proper oem setup and payload starts at 1400 lbs so terms like 1/2 ton dont really apply anymore. That was all i was saying.

You can get after market extra leaf springs, upgraded suspension components and things like airbags increase what they can do. You are usually taking your chances with those but the point is you can increase their capabilities with after market upgrades. Jeep owners do it all the time to the extent that many of the upgrades were added to the factory models.

Still won't raise the factory cargo cap unless you also upgrade the axles. I know of no one who would go to that trouble. And air bags don't do squat other than level the body - they do absolutely nothing to allow more cargo cap.

Keep in mind that Jeep owners mod their vehicles to primarily improve axle articulation and ground clearance - that's a whole different ball game than increasing payload or towing capacity.

Agreed but i do know contractors who did replace axles cause it was cheaper than buying a new truck

Dang you guys are tough lol. The comment was about usage of the terms 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton being out of date. I didnt expect it to get so technical lol
an f150 is a 1/2 ton, a silverado 1500 is a 1/2 ton, a ram 1500 is a 1/2 ton, a tundra is a 1/2 ton, a titan is a 1/2 ton what else would would you call it? 1/2 a 1 ton????? lol

And yet in the UK, our Nissan Navara which is the Frontier in the US, is plated to carry 1040Kg.
That's around 2290 lbs.🤔
And that's from the factory, no modifications. Most UK pickups have similar payloads as tax is applied as a car on anything with less than a 1000Kg payload.

Airbags may not change the capacities of what a tow vehicle can do but i installed them to stop squat. They will help keep suspension components from wearing prematurely on the tow vehicle. If you put a lot of mileage on a tv that is squatting it will have an impact on the suspension. The airbags are a lot less expensive than most things on a super duty lol

I stlill stay within the published specs of the rv and tow vehicle. Having the airbags doesnt make me think i can tow more weight
