I have been putting off buying a HDTV because I don't want to buy a new dish for the camper. Can I use my Dish500 dish, that I have in the camper with a 711 HD receiver? If I have to buy a HD dish for the camper, is it harder to lock the signal when setting up ?

The answer is "Sort of" the Dish 500 picks up two satellites. Normally it is pointed at 110/119, these birds carry NTSC type video (4x3) not HDTV. 129 carries the HDTV.
Now, there is enough "Slop" in the adjustments that it will get 119/129 (But not 110)
Distant networks are on 119, so you get, basically 2/3 of what you pay for with a Dish 500.. A dish 1000 will get all 3 birds.

not really interested in picking up HD in the camper. Just want to pick up 110/119. If I upgrade to the Dish HD receiver. I will be able to use the Dish500 Dish and get all the chanels I am currently getting? Our locals have yet to be picked up in HD by DishNetwork.
