If you're an old geezer like me then you remember the 102" "whip" antenna, bumper mounted, waving in the breeze.

Yup, though mine was a 48" fiberglass that was rear fender mounted. That was in the days when you still needed call signs. Today I have mobile CB (in the Jeep for 4-wheeling) and FRS (for 4-wheeling and talking with DW). My F-150 has a multiband amateur radio (UHF, VHF, HF) in it, though.
