Certificate of Title

Hi Guys

Ive just taken a (proper) look at my Certificate of Title for both the Expedition and the Ford Focus.

The Focus states :

Year : 2006
Make/Manufact. : Ford
Model : Foc
Body Style : 2D
Unladen Weight/Material : 2,502

All that makes perfect sense !!

But, the Expedition states :

Year : 2006
Make/Manufact. : FRHT
Model : [left blank]
Body Style : CH
Unladen Weight/Material : 3,000

Now, that just doesn't seem right - is it ?

The Body Style states CH - whats CH (is it the chassis) ?
The Weight states 3,000 - just a few thousand short.

It appears as though just the Chassis has been titled ?

Can you guys tell me if your RV docs state true weights etc or are like mine.

The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is asssigned by chassis manufacturer and this is what is titled. The balance of information varies by state but most do use the GVWR on the title in my experience. The CH is chassis since the FRHT is the abbrevation for Freightliner.

I have a title for the fully completed vehicle, issued by the coach builder (National RV, in my case).

The bare chassis is what is known as an "incomplete vehicle" and it appears the builder (Fleetwood?) has decided to use that title document and not issue a new title for the completed coach. I'm surprised at that, but apparently it is aceptable practice.

I note that I had a Fleetwood Vin as well as the Freightliner Vin - should the Fleetwood one have been used ?

Washington always uses the chassis VIN for registrration even though the description and weights are of the motorhome.

No, there is only one VIN and that is the chassis for registration purposes.
