It's pretty shameful that people "support" or "approve" of the way Musk is treating his employees. Does someone losing their job unexpectedly make you types happy? Those who were laid off get to go home and worry about feeding their kids and paying for their home, and when they might find a new job and what that means.

Do you think someone finding out they no longer have a job, in an email, is a good way of handling a layoff? My goodness...

Get with the program. Marriages and ending relationships are handled now thru some texts.:p

Nope, that's just poor leadership and cowardice.
Well I have read somewhere on this forum that private businesses and social media outlets can decide how they run their businesses. Maybe this has changed in the past week, but don't know for myself.;)

Yep, they absolutely can - as long as they're not running afoul of the law, which seems to have happened here. Law and order, right?

None of this means Musk isn't a petulant coward, or that the people who are enthused by a bunch of people losing their jobs aren't a little twerked in the head.

I'm not sure if he is able to drop $44B without feeling it too much. Might be chump change to him. But personally I don't think it would be any great loss on the annals of history if Twitter went down. Maybe that's his objective.

Musk is worth a lot on paper, but that's not cash-in-hand. He had to finance the Twitter purchase, so he has investors to answer to.

He's had a rough first week and is throwing a Twitter-tantrum already.
I never considered General Motors to be an "activist group". Learn something new erryday ;)

Skookum, I posted this same screenshot from Twitter on my own FB page a few minutes ago. Absolutely hilarious! It is a great roasting of an unusually deserving target.

Some of you make me laugh. As long as I have been on this forum you folks have raved about Musk, his business ventures and his products. When he challenges the establishment with just one tweet back when he first begin considering buying Twitter, that also most of you subscribe to the content on it, Musk is now bad.

While he has investors, no different than most all other major corporations, he was willing to back up his positions and gamble his success on buying the Twitter platform. I don't know anyone here thats willing to take such as risk of sorts on anything close to what he has done, backed up with his accomplishments. And a lot of members invested and use his Starlink , right as you attempt to scorn him and hope for his demise now. I love reading the daily changes of you guys. It gives me a chuckle. (y)

Jay I think you're digging for something that isn't there. Because some of us think Teslas are good cars and that Starlink is a brilliant idea to bridge the broadband gap in rural areas doesn't mean we have to worship Elon or agree with everything he does, nor do we have to put up with his irrational and destructive behavior.

I think his objective is his perception to stop the socialists and their agenda and let the other side of the story be let out as well. I do not want to make a political riff, but these mega corporate FB, Google, etc etc, have got to be met with the other sides opinion as well. What is flushed down the generations behind us, that do use all these sources for news etc, well the information is less than accurate. Not saying Musk and Twitter will be any better, after all he did not throw 44B at something to level the playing field in the social media arena. AS for my true opinion, the Devil has created the ultimate playground.

People that reach the level that he has reached have an entirely different personality that most average folks will never understand. I watched people throw down thousands of dollars of chips in the casino just to get one additional card, betting against the house. You can bet that the house knows their odds when building all those buildings and keeps all those lights on outside before doing so.

Whether he wins with the Twitter venture or not, who knows. I just watch from the sidelines and listen to the hysteria from the public square now of a platform that used to be the gospel, used and quoted everyday by the most of the most high profile leaders and media outlets.

I still have not figured out why free speech is all of a sudden considered selective by so many folks. Its always misinformation now if a person disagrees with whatever is spoken by their fellow "man".

We all know the house always has the favorable odds; some of us are smart enough not to play those games.

Saying that we couldn't possibly understand his personality because he's on a different level is a load of garbage. His personality is easily discernible as one that is aggressive and narcissistic. It's not uncommon in those circles. Howard was a screamer, Gates had a temper. But they kept it behind closed doors.

The only consistent thing is you continually confuse nonfactual information with opinion. Free speech hasn't changed.

I feel Musk bought the assets of a company,, he can legitimately divest of liabilities as he sees fit and take the company,( wholly owned) where he wishes.. One thing is certain,, he won't please everyone.. Layoffs are not the same as firings,, and I have been caught in layoffs several times over the years and never had a warning.. My answer was to go into business myself and tackle the system in that manner.>>>Dan

Elon Musk is a narcissistic, misogynistic, racist excuse of a human being. Lots of legal cases to show that. He is also a really, really smart man, no question about it. However as people move into the rarified stratosphere occupied by people like Musk, Zuckerberg, and Bezos they seem to lose the people who would previously have been allowed to say, “That’s a terrible idea!” More yes men, less criticism generally lead to poorer decisions. I think that is where Musk is right now. We will have to see if he comes out of it. Most don’t.

I have been caught in layoffs several times over the years and never had a warning.

The regulations around large layoffs stipulate that the employer notify the NLRB, and certain offices of state and local governments in advance. You are correct - you as an employee aren't guaranteed any warning that it's coming, but there are reporting requirements that have to be followed.

Musk's failure to follow those regulations will likely land him in hot water, and in front of unsympathetic members of the justice system.

What's more concerning, and actually more detrimental to free speech is the fact that the Saudis are reportedly heavy investors in this deal. As users, Saudis are unable to quash free speech on Twitter in their country, but as investors, they can stipulate certain policies, as well as speech that is or isn't favorable to any political parties in the US which are sympathetic or have ties to them.

There are only two things in life thats factual and you will not find it on the internet. Everything else? pick a topic and you will find a version from someone that claims to be right and everyone else is wrong. Talk about being narcissistic,,, The library is filled with books with like topics written by different folks that if you ask each one of them they will say that their version of the topic is the only one to believe. Same applies here,

Nobody is telling you what to believe, but you are free to be wrong.

What are the two things that are factual that you cannot find on the Internet? The person(s) that hold the facts are the one(s) that are right. There are opinions, lies and facts. There is information, misinformation and disinformation.
