Here I am in my old Junky Y2K RV at Cinder Hilles in the Coconino Forest, which is around ten miles NE of Flagstaff.

On Forest Road 776, off Hwy 89. Go 1.2 miles east on this unpaved road, and you have countless miles to boondock anywhere you please. cannot camp (says a sign) for the first 1,2 miles and then another sign that says "camp anywhere beyond this point"

I am out in a clearing so I can play with my solar panels--new Victon solar controller and monitor in this RV.

So I am out in a clearing. Just a few trees here. I like this spot, but there are countless places to set up in the thick trees,

The weather has been perfect, except for my first two days here, when it was extremely windy.

Today, I took a ride to see how much the Walnut Canyon National Monument is closed. The road is blocked, cannot even get to the trails near the building. So I took this unpaved road, close to there, for seven miles. Like many long unpaved roads, they start out great, and in the middle, it gets so rough you have to consider going back. But I kept going, and I am glad that I did.

I had to ride through water in some areas. I have no photos of the worst areas because I wasn't going to try to stop for photos where the road was extra bad.

But I found some new hiking trails and I ended up on a paved road in an area of Flagstaff I have never seen before. Here are some of the photos of today's ride in Walnut Canyon.

The road looked fine at the start:

A good view of Humphreys Peak (12,633 feet elevation, the highest point in AZ) from the end across from the lake as shown below.

It got worse at this point, and this is only the beginning. I had to ride in water at some places, and the gravel at other spots made a very rough ride. All a few miles in. The road is fine at each end.

But I was warned:

Reward at the end. An area of Falgstaff that I did not know existed:

I was watching a youtuber that was in that area this past summer and he ran into some, umm, "interesting" people. It was enough to scare him back to PA lol
