Hello RV family. I purchased a 2017 Open Road Tiffin with 12,000 miles on it 18 months ago. Currently have 25,000 miles. I'm prpearing for a long trip throught the US. I don't think I need a tuneup as it runds great. but I read that spark plugs should be changed every 2 years. I don't plugs have ever been changed.

Can anyone tell me how many miles they have driven before a tune up was needed?

Ford's maintenance recommendation would likely be the best avenue to follow.

...such as oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter...etc. etc.

6.8L V10 Gas Engine:

Ford F-250 to F-750 Models

  • Engine oil and filter replacement every 3,000 – 5,000 miles
  • Tire rotation every other oil change or when tire wear noted
  • Replace Engine air filter as needed or every 15,000 miles
  • Replace Cabin air filter as needed or every 30,000 miles
  • Perform front end alignment once a year or every 15,000 miles
  • Inspect brake pads and rotors every service interval
  • Grease all fittings and inspect axles and fluids
  • Replace transfer case fluid every 30,000 miles
  • Replace front and rear axle fluids every 30,000 miles
  • Replace or repack wheel bearings every 30,000 miles
  • Perform transmission filter and fluid service every 30,000 miles under severe use
  • Replace spark plugs every 60,000 miles
  • Replace engine coolant every 100,000 miles
  • Replace serpentine belt every 5 years or 100,000 miles
  • Replace brake fluid every 30,000 miles
  • Replace power steering fluid every 60,000 miles

I thought most newer engines today don't require spark plugs to be replaced until 100K miles.

My guess is the OP would either sell his Tiffin, or beach it in the yard before the plugs need to be changed.

It is not the engines. It's the plugs.. They make better plugs these days. 100K miles and they MAY need replacement.

Less if the engine has a problem or if wires get dined upon.

The big difference to spark plug life is when they removed lead from gasoline.

Platinum tips was the official reason.

As for lead... When the government announced they were banning it one Refiner proudly announced they would produce it.. That happens to be the brand I most used at the time.

THEY NEVER USED IT. They have been lead free all along.

I only use gas with the secret additives, I know it's better if there are consonants, digits and lots of dashes in the name.

Where did you read that "every two years" nonsense? Even the Ford recommendation (post #3) is quite conservative, but "every two years" seems nuts. Unless maybe you drive 50k/year.
Enjoy your trip with the "old" spark plugs.
I changed the spark plugs & distributor in my Dodge Ram truck at 110,000 miles. When I looked at the bottom of the old used plugs, I could barely notice any difference between those and the new plugs. 110,000 miles was probably too soon to change them!

Thanks so much for responding. I'll take your advice. I had looked on google, then I decided to go to the forum for the advice. Thanks again.
