Howdy RV friends; I just registered and am pretty much new to this wonderful hobby. My wife and I are fixin' to buy our first class A motorhome to export it to Germany and have it licensed overhere. In Germany we have to obey certain regulations pertaining to the outer dimensions and the GVWR of a vehicle. This gives me quite some headache finding the right RV for us, since all the RV search sites don't offer the right search criteria or filtering options. So here is what I'm trying to find: Class A motorhome - length possibly no longer than 30 ft - width not wider than 8 ft 4 in (100 in) outside, mirrors not counting. This is mandatory, since anything wider is against the law. - GVWR not exceeding 16500 lbs (7500 kgs), so I'm able to drive it with my regular passenger car driver license - possibly not older than model year 2001 - if possible Workhorse chassis with V8 Chevy gas engine which I will equip with a LPG system (a very common conversion here in Europe to cut down on fuel costs) - no slides - up to around US $ 35000. I didn't navigate your wonderful forum yet, nor do I know whether this is the right place for my post, but any help in this concern would be greatly appreciated!!! Many Thanks in Advance - diller333

I think Bill Murray and Harold Ramis left theirs in Germany. It's nicely equipped with rocket launchers and armor.

Oh, crap. It's definitely older that 2001.

try and google the "Stars & Stripes" newspaper. it is the American paper for the military in Europe. they do have a on line classified section, you might be lucky enough to find someone trying to sell theirs before they return to the states. just a thought, i know when i was stationed there they had them posted for sale on occasion.

Thanks a lot majfrizz for the info! Guess my >story< puzzled everybody. So here again is what I'm looking for:

  -  preowned class A motorhome to buy in the States and ship to Germany

  -  length:  30-31 ft maximum

  -  width:  8ft 4in (100 in) maximum !!!

  -  GVWR:  16500 lbs maximum !!!

A Workhorse chassis with a Chevy engine would be perfect and the rig shouldn't be older than model year 2000.

It's just that RV trader doesn't offer the above filtering options.

Any ideas or pointers in the right direction ???  Y'all have a nice weekend !!! Thanks  -  diller333

Thanks Tom for responding !!
Good advice - have been reading and reading up until now in your great library.
Looks like folks in the U.K. are almost sittin' in the same boat when it comes to RV importing !?!
The electricity conversion keeps my thoughts busy too.
On top of that I learned, that in Germany the whole propane installation needs official approval too,
with the replacement of the tank (no E.C. label) being on top of the list.
"Why can't we be just one happy family ???"
Anyway I do appreciate your help and want to congratulate to a great forum !!!
Thank You  -  diller333
