Who makes the best combo washer/dryer for a RV. Is vented better than no vent? How long does a typical load of towels take to wash and dry? We are looking to put one in our motorhome and would like to keep some closet space.

Vented is the only way to go.

Splendide make an excellent combo washer/dryer, but you have to adapt your laundry habits to "the RV combo way". Small loads done more often and do laundry while you do other things rather than waiting on it.  Take advantage of the automatic combo cycle by throwing in a small load and going about your day, hiking, sight-seeing, whatever.  If you save up a week of laundry to do all at once, you will get frustrated at how slow it is compared to home.

Agree with everything Gary said. I'm on my second Splendide combo vented and plan on getting one in the next rig. Wouldn't be without one.

Agree with Gary.  Also when you stuff the thing full you'll have more wrinkles.  Small loads do a better job.  Sometimes I'll do a larger load of towels and then divide it in half for better more wrinkle free drying.  Love my combo Splendide!  If you search on the word Splendide with the above Search button, you'll find all kinds of comments to help make a decision.

The unvented models use more water as well as being slower at drying.  They use a condensation system to extract water from the clothes and that requires water to be pumped through the condenser during the dry cycle.

You asked "how long".  It varies with the number & size of towels (and wash cloths?) and the fabric type/quality, but I'd say 60-70 minutes.  Obviously bath towels take longer than hand towels, right?  My wife would typically gather up the towels when she got up and throw them in the Splendide.  By the time she finished her coffee and was ready to tackle the days activities, the towels were done [but we seldom rush through our mornings.
