Computer Techs? Hard Drives send a signal wireless?

I haven?t seen them but I have a friend that told me about his WiFi drive that he uses for traveling with the kids and they watch movies on their pads in the back with the drive tucked away wherever streaming to them. No further info or how many clients it supports but I?ll send him an email and ask about it. It came from Asia so they may not be sold here.. standby

Western Digital and Hitachi both made wireless mechanical drives.  But each drive creates it's own wireless network.  Even if you could have 7 different networks you'd have a heck of a time with channel contention, I.e. Stepping all over each other.  I say that because I have two of the Hitachi ones and I think there's no way to change the wireless channels.

Here's an idea!  Get an older laptop (not too old) then get 4 USB dual docks.  Plug all 7 drives into the docks and make them shareable over your network through the laptop.  How you power and manage this monstrosity is going to be fun to watch.  (Popcorn time).  I suggest getting some cooling fans too.  And a padded case to carry the drives in when you move.
