Hi,
My wife and I are considering an RV and seasonal camping.  We're very much new to the concept, so need to learn a lot before we dive in.  This forum seemed like a great place to start!  We are from Western NY.

Maybe start with what you call "camping" and what you consider an "RV".  From there you'll get lots of insight from folks about their experiences.

Welcome, I agree, tell us a bit more about what sort of RV experience you are looking for, and we can help guide you in the right direction or tell you if it is realistic.  Are you looking at off grid camping in the middle of nowhere in a pop up trailer, or are you thinking about spending your winters in a 45 ft diesel pusher motorhome at a beachfront luxury RV resort with full hookups, or something in betweeen?

Welcome to the forum from another Western NYer! Where abouts do you live? I'm in Rochester and I keep my TT on some land I have between Owasco and Skaneateles Lakes.

Some people might think this is silly but renting a small to medium C-Class will teach you lots of things common to many RVs. I guarantee you will have a much better idea of what you like and dislike without making a large commitment.

Welcome.

You said "seasonal camping", which I take to mean you hope to buy a trailer and place it on a fixed lot for the entire summer camping season rather than traveling around to various places.  If that's nor right, please correct my impression because it will have a significant effect on what is important to you.

+ 1 - yes, yes - rent before you buy - it will be a great investment. And, when you do camp - talk to everyone and get questions answered (and some TALL tales and misinformation <<-- which you get to filter through!).

DW and I share every task so that we can help and also provide backup at any time - that also helps us both enjoy the experience as a team. You just need to have patience with each other - after all you're supposed to be having fun!

Cya on the road.
