Members discussed a report claiming SpaceX may eventually launch far more satellites and whether that could improve Starlink performance in wooded campgrounds. RVers shared mixed real-world results, with some saying a Starlink Mini or Gen3 worked surprisingly well through scattered trees or when aimed at the largest open patch of sky, while others said dense deciduous tree cover, cliffs, buildings, and canyon walls can still make service unreliable no matter how the dish is moved.

Most of the sats burning up now are version 1.5 or earlier, which weigh 573 pounds at launch. I suspect on board fuel (krypton) is at least 10% of that weight and would be nearly gone by the time de-orbit is initiated, but for the sake of argument, let's say it's still all there.
If 171 sats added 5 tons of aluminum oxide to the atmosphere, that's 58.5 lbs. per satellite. So 1/10th of the total weight? Seems unlikely. I guess the "other than Starlink" reentries are a substantial portion.
Aluminum turns to a gas at 2518 C.
Reentry temps only reach about 1650 C.
It's heavier than air and eventually settles and causes acid soil problems for farmers. Lots of lime and/or gypsum must be amended to get back to a good ph.

Here's the latest on the new bandwidth sharing. Aligning your Starlink north is probably not going to remain the preferred for much longer.
