Hello all,

We have an Alpenlite Augusta 32 fifth wheel trailer and would like to cover it because it is stored outdoors in Northern California.  Does anybody know about RV covers?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  We would like to cover it when it is not in use (hopefully only a few months out of the year around the holidays).  I have looked up some covers on the Net -- Proguard and Tyvek.

Pam,

The concensus here would be to avoid a cover because you'd end up with surface damage to the trailer when the wind blows. We also live in northern CA and don't cover our motorhome for that reason.

Pam,

We second Tom's advice to avoid RV covers.  Unless of course somebody in your family enjoys refinishing damaged areas on the RV.

As Tom says, most folks here are not big on covers.  However, if you have the lot space, a canopy shelter might have its points in favor.

Thanks all for the information.  That was our general concensus.  I guess just keep the surface in good condition.  Any suggestions on cleaner/wax, etc.  There is so much out there!
