About an hour south of Gila Bend, and 1.5 hours south of Buckeye. Anyone ever stay there? It's a bit remote, but remote can be good.

No not stayed there, but if my geography is correct that's not far from gunsight wash BLM area where we had a lovely site for free.

Could be remote, but the place is often filled up --at least during the winter. I asked there once when I was boondocked at OPCNM.

I assume you have been at OPCNM before.

not there but at Hickiwan Trails RV Park, HC-03 box 11, Ajo, AZ 85321 that is just down the road not much there, very little casino, cell service not that good. Organ Pipe National Monument not far.

Nope, heard of it though.

Can only boondock there, but they have everything needed at a central location. IMO, OPCNM is the most beautiful desert in the USA.

But get propane at that gas station in or near Why.

OPCNM is just a few miles south of Why, AZ.

See my thread here.

Thanks...I've bee through the geographical area a number of times, but just passing through. I'm just not much of a tourist.

My current FB cover photo was taken at Organ Pipe. Fabulous place. Not many places for bigger rigs like ours (40’), and we had to back into the pull through because of tight angles, but it was worth the trouble.

I have not yet stayed a Gun Sight BLM. But it looks like a great place to try with my Y2K RV. My 2022 RV has like NO ground clearance. But my Y2K Class C has plenty.

Or are the roads good enough for my newer RV with very little ground clearance? My next trip will be in my 2022 30-foot Class A RV as I have not used it in months.

And I can charge my electric motorcycle at the charge stations in Ajo. There are several of them in Ajo that I can use.

If I need to take my old RV, I will have to save that trip for next winter as it will probably be too hot there near Why in a month or so.

BTW, I wonder why they named that place Why.

Neither am I. I am only a traveler.

The town derives its name from the fact that two major highways, State Routes 85 and 86, originally intersected in a Y-intersection.[2] At the time of its naming, state law required all city names to have at least three letters, so the town's founders named the town "Why" as opposed to simply calling it "Y." The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) later removed the old Y-intersection for traffic safety reasons and built the two highways in a conventional intersection south of the original intersection.[3]

It has frequently been noted on lists of unusual place names.[4][5]

On the other hand, there is a spot in the road about 45 minutes south of me called "Y City", at the junction of highways 71 and 270 in Scott County, AR. A misnomer if there ever was one. No "city", no "people", just oak forest and cow pastures. And banjo playing...lots of banjo playing.
