Subject generator is in a 2003 Fleetwood Bounder 35E. Getting ready to perform annual maintenance on said unit and have a question regarding fuel filter. Found two of them installed on this unit. One is directly ahead of the fuel pump and the other is directly ahead of the carburetor. Both of them are identical. Question: Is it standard for two identical filters to be installed on the same line? ONAN service kit only furnishes one filter and photos I have seen of other ONAN 5500?s only have one installed ahead of the fuel pump and none adjacent to the carburetor. I wonder if previous owner installed additional filter as an added precaution.

Mine has both filters too.
It?s my understanding that Onan no longer uses the filter next to the carb.

One ahead of the fuel pump was probably added by the builder of the rig when Genny installed at the factory

I don?t think so. The fuel pump and filter are mounted to the generator frame and shown on the Onan parts manual.
