Cybertruck too heavy and too fast for the UK

So in all your travels you don't "Rarely" see trucks pulling TT's, Fivers, Boats, Utility trailers, Jet ski's, ATV, SxS's, etc.... They are everywhere and you know it.
No, I don't "know it" but the next time I head for Auburn, I will count the pickup trucks that are not towing vs. towing on I-80. I will post the numbers here. You can do the same the next time you're on a long drive of 100 miles or so.

I cannot say I have seen an EV pickup truck towing anything either, but with other that a Cybertruck, I probably wouldn't notice if it's an EV truck or ICE truck if towing or not. Other than the Cybertruck, all the pickups look the same to me, which is rather boring, EV or ICE.

In the old days those who had the need bought a Pickup Truck as well they were a rough ride compared to a Sedan and no Trunk to speak of (just the large open bed)

Today they make pickups with "A the comforts" of a luxury Car.. Fancy sound systems. HEAVC (And heated leather seats) and you name it... they include it.. So now a lot of the Bru-HA folks Well the Bigger the truck the better the truck. Even if just hauling the weekly groceries.

I mean why drive a 40MPG very nice Sedan when you can drive a 4MPG Super Truck to pick up a gallon of Milk?

Putting this in context of an RV Forum
With a decent pick up towing a 35' 5th whel in 2006 got about 8MPG.. Towing a 40 MPG run about a 37' Class A.. the same 8MPG. Going to the store for a loaf of bread and so on. Perhaps 16 for the truck 30-40 for the Sedan.

Numbers for Class A... 2005 Damon Intruder 377W.. Mine.
Numbers for Pickup with 5er.. My next site neighbor.

Drive east towards the Bay Bridge towards Rehoboth Beach starting about this time of year Wednesday-Friday and then the same route going west on Sunday and you’ll get tired of counting trucks hauling and towing.
I drive a Prius that gets 50-60 mpg and the majority of my trips are less than 5 miles to Aldi, Lidle, Sam’s, Lowes or HD. As a matter of fact everything I need except if my wife’s appointments at John’s Hopkins in Baltimore are within 5 miles.

In Texas we call this "all hat, no cattle."

What are they usually towing? Even when one is towing an RV, the truck is probably used a lot at RV parks and such for daily stuff as a vehicle towing nothing at all. Probably adds more miles not towing than being towed.

Most of your trips are less than five miles, yet many say EV range is too short. Most of my trips via car are also about that, other than my motorcycle rides or car trips to Auburn and back.

We do a lot of off road driving with our truck and can do over 200 miles in a day just exploring. We also have it loaded with things we need. Canoe, camping kit, generators, logs, extra fuel, some tools. We take much of that out upon arrival at the campsite.

Where we travel we see lots of trucks used for work and loaded, others with tow kit, and others with neither.

Whew--That sounded easy but man there is ALOT of trucks up here...LOL
Just went to the big city--about 75 miles round trip. It was hard to keep track but I ended up with a SOLID 15-20% of FULL size pick-up trucks were actively pulling a trailer or the bed was loaded with more than any car or even large SUV could hold (Furniture ATV's Equipment, wood, etc..).

I did not count "baby" pick-ups (Tacoma, ranger, colorado's, etc) as they are not designed for big trailer use or to haul large loads.
With the sheer number of trucks it was no easy feat, so I just went to 100 trucks 3-4 times. In each case 13-25 of the 100 were loaded or pulling a trailer.
No way to know but I'd bet well over 88% of the trucks running empty have some sort of trailer at home or in storage that they do tow from time to time.

Yeah, it's probably a lot different in different areas of this rather large country.

What I notice the most by far, are Tesla Model Y's and a few Model 3's like mine. Perhaps it's just that I am much more likely to notice such.

The only time I notice Rivan Pickup trucks is when they are parked or charging up. They look just like any other boring pickup truck to me. But I think there are a lot of them on the road out here. So if I do see trucks towing, I am going to try extra hard to make sure it is not an EV.

But it was hard for me to NOT notice this SUV towing.

No it doesn’t.
It could be that the one I was in had zero miles on it, had no owner.

I have seen a few very filthy Cybertucks since then used on the road.

Perhaps I have weird taste, but I think the normal pickup trucks are ugly--includes my own. And mine is ICE and has not been used even once as a truck for more than ten years.

I cannot remember the last time I saw any truck full of hay, but is has been many years and most likely very far away.

Then you're just in the wrong place. I see that periodically around the outside edges of (sometimes inside) the Denver Metro, and even more often on the county roads and state highways, even near ranches in the high country. In point of fact, there is a man ¼ mile south of me who has enough acres of hay to fill a medium flat-bed somewhat larger than a pickup, more than one load each season- come to think of it, he has pretty fair stacks of hay sitting around just after harvest 'til they get sold..

In any case, pickups around here are often used for such things as hauling gear for a Boy Scout troop to camping, carrying lumber, and a large number of other truck-type tasks, though I'll grant that there are also too many of the sort around that, as nearly as I can tell, are mostly for show.

Of course another factor in the popularity of today's pickups, is the inside space in the crew-cab models- DW still has her 2002 Mercury Marquis (same body as a Ford Crown Victoria) because it's such a roomy, comfortable car. That's largely (but not entirely) why I still have my 2007 F-150 Crew Cab with a shell, though I am no longer hauling Scout crews, and I do occasionally still use it as a truck, too.

Then you're just in the wrong place.
If I ever notice such, I will post here. I was wondering if I have seen trucks full of hay recently, but just didn't notice. I will now notice if I see such.

But so far, still not any at all. And I am on the road a lot--even in some farm country, like my ~250-mile round trip motorcycle ride yesterday as well as today.

Part of it could be in some states hay must be covered, but usually not.

Of course another factor in the popularity of today's pickups, is the inside space in the crew-cab models-
Yep. My buddy Bob who died last Year, was a very large guy. He preferred my Dodge pickup truck when we used to go out for breakfast together. More room than my Jeep SUV I had back then.

So I guess I can say I used it as a pickup truck if that counts.

BTW, I saw several pickup trucks today as well as yesterday on my 250-mile rides. Two of them out of more than I can keep count of, were towing something.

BTW. one thing I have noticed is pickup trucks speed more than any other 4-wheel vehicle. They all seem to rush as if they have a hot date.

I just remembered; I still have my cattle racks for my Ford 3/4T truck. I made them from White Oak, all bolted together. Since I sold all the cattle those racks have been hanging in the old pole barn. I'll have to check to see if those 2 trees got them when they fell on the barn.

More news on the CyberTruck.

There are becoming worthless rather fast. But kinda what I expected. We're getting there to where the EVs are cheaper than ICE, as I predicted a while back.

I’ve yet to see one actually being used for “work.”

I see trucks by the oodles in the DFW, most aren't for work and never will be. The closest would be towing a boat or jet ski's to the lake maybe and a cybertruck can do that.

That's encouraging, "They're not worth much, so they're cheap".
