We are heading to Margaritaville at Crystal Beach, Tx. We will be south bound on IH-45 from DFW and I'm going to avoid the ferry from Galveston to Crystal Beach.
Any suggestions on the best route going through, or around, Houston to get from IH-45 SB to IH-10 EB? A single truck pulling a 35' 5th wheel.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My suggestion is take I45 to Conroe, then TX105 to 146 to US90 in Liberty, go East on US90 a few miles then 1410 to 65 into Winnie, and 124 to High Island and 87 down to Crystal Beach. I have driven all of these roads in my coach and they are mostly good, only marginal bit is 1410, though it has been about 5 years since I drove that section of TX105. I last drove the route from Winnie to Crystal beach , then the ferry across to Galveston in December of 2021. This route skips I-10 completely, which is a construction zone near Winnie

I'm trying to follow your instructions using RV LIFE PRO routing. I'm hung up on the "go East on US90 a few miles then 1410 to 65 into Winnie," I don't see where 1410 intersects with 90. I see where 61 in Devers heads south and there 1410 connects. Then I'm good on 65 to Stowell, turn south on 124. Sound right?

You can use 61 to 65 also, either one gets you there, 61 may be a slightly better road, yes right turn onto 124 in Stonewall, its basically a T intersection there, the right at the beach on 87 (there is no longer a Left option on 87, as 87 from High Island to Sabine Pass washed out in the 1980's and was never rerbuilt due to beach erosion, as of 20 years ago it was still passable with some section of pavement in a Jeep).

p.s. if you need to do any last minute grocery shopping, I suggest stopping in Winnie or before, there are not many options after that.

If you wanted to do a tollway, taking the Grand Parkway (SH-99) would be the quickest and easiest. If you are wanting to avoid the tollway though, I think the easiest route might be I-45 to SH-242, then 242 across to I-69/59. Take that south to I-610, then go east to I-10. I-10 east to 124, then south to High Island, then 87 to Crystal Beach.

The only reason I say to 242 instead of SH-105, 105 is pretty torn up with construction right now. They are making it 4 lane instead of 2 between Conroe and Cleveland, and in places it is a mess.

Depending on the time of day, you could also just stay on I-45 to I-610. But there's always a chance of traffic or an accident on I-45. By far, the easiest route would be 99/Grand Parkway, if you didn't mind paying the toll.
