The metal on the outside of the long portion of the slide was all messed up so it's going away and siding will be installed in it's place. Going with T&G pine beaded. Going to try and get the flooring and framing in tomorrow and maybe even the roof frame and plywood dried in. Will post pics around lunchtime of the gutting and again at dinner to show how far I got.
The travel trailer is going to move only twice as far as I know so I will be putting in a different roof system with no flange up top and a slight overhang over the siding along the long side.

Yeah I am going to be moving in for about two years as far as I can tell, maybe longer if things do not go well with my plan. I just finished paying off a lease to own deal and the owner doesn't own the home. They also never paid any taxes from the time I moved in so soon it will be going to silent auction. Trying to beat the clock. Was given this TT in not ideal shape, but have redone several older ones so time is the only issue. The last of the demo happens in the morning when the old floor and the roof of the slide are removed.

Everybody complains about tenant problems, but I've had landlord problems too.
We lived in a place for a couple of years, paid the rent every month right on time or a couple of days early. One day a suit from some bank showed up at the door and gave us 30 days to move because the landlord apparently hadn't been passing our money on to the bank. Of course, this happened about 2 days after I'd paid another month.

Yessir, this is a first for me as I am sure it was for you. Quite a shock to find out the mobile home lender still owned the home they bought in '97. Turns out they even refinanced it a few years back. They never paid any of the mortgage or taxes on time since they moved into town and rented or sold the property.
I could not have rented this place for what I paid per month [$688 for two acres and a doublewide] for six years.
Good news is my good neighbor is allowing me to put my TT at his hookup for free as long as I pay the electric and water bills. He and I are the top two officers of our local WSC board. I have been helping them build structures on their land for 6 years now at little or no cost. We've got a lot more to build there so I will stay busy on the weekends, but it beats paying lot rent somewhere else with no land to play on [they have 18 acres now and are adding 10 more soon]

I've been following your posts since your first one. You are definitely more ambitions that I am, attempting to (literally) rebuild that camper.

I hope the property arrangement finally works out for you OK. Keep hanging in there. It will all work out great in the end! Good job! Looking forward to the photos.

Here's a few from today. After the demo I told my neighbor I was going to take open concept to another level...haha...

After demo I drilled through the outer metal channel and mounted 2x6 treated pine under the channel to have a nailer for the bottom row of T&G when it goes on. Before that I primed and painted the metal after sanding the surface rust off. Then I coated the bottom of the plywood [5/8 cdx] with Flood clear sealer and painted all the edges exposed black.

Once this was done, the new 2x2 plates went down and were screwed into the plywood subfloor. I also ran 6" screws up through the subfloor and plate into the remaining 'studs' from the original framing. After lunch comes the not so fun part. The roof has to come down along with what seems to be several cans of great stuff, rotted luan and EPDM that leaks. Going to be a BIG mess getting it out, but it all has to go before the new wall can be built. Going to tarp the new subfloor so it doesn't get trashed in the process.

And yes, this is going to be more weight than normal, but I figured it will only be about 350-440 pounds added from the existing mess and maybe around 250 more than when it was new. I think the slideout motor can handle it.

Got a few framing boards up yesterday afternoon late. I decided to go ahead with what I did in spite of the rain that is now coming down [light rain thankfully] so I borrowed a 30x20 tarp from a good friend and buttoned it up just after dark. Going to locate the little arched window framing gizmos that go into the framing before I get ready to get the windows back in.

Weatherman shows no rain this afternoon so theoretically I could get some framing done before the second band hits, but I do not trust their models. They are so often wrong!

Going to start a new thread on the rebuild. Just discovered I cannot change the title on this one. Got a little progress done today...
