Hi folks.  I own a 2013 Journey that got water in the engine via the air intake box. The Freightliner service center says engine needs to be replaced.  I'm beginning to learn that this has happened to others in the past.  Has anyone had any experience with this type of situation?

Sucking water, not just vapor, but WATER into the intake of any motor has about a 98% chance of destroying the] motor.

OUCH, that one hurts! How did that much water get past the air filter? Was the engine submerged? If it hydrolocked it is pretty much destroyed as donn suggests.

Best guess is it's rain water that came down the air supply duct while parked in the driveway.
