i am new to the R/V life. i just bought a 1987 sportsman trailer. it seems to be in good shape, but the fuse for the a/c prower for the fridge keeps blowing. it calls for a 5 amp, but i even tried a 10 amp and it blew in seconds. i dont have a lot of money, so i would like to try fixing it myself. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rob,

You may have a short in the AC element. Find the AC leads to the heater and remove them from the control board. See if the fuse still blows. If not then you have an element problem. Be sure to disconnect all power before playing around with the leads!!!!

Do not install larger fuses when troubleshooting. You may find it works but the wiring will, in most cases, not be adequate to carry such current. This leads to overheating and fire!

thank you both, do you know if this heating element is usually in stock at a dealer?
