DonTom

I was stuck in the house here for a few days because of the bad weather.

I finally got out today, which sure felt good. I went to the one place that I knew would not be snowed in, Lockwood, which has a short hiking trail (perhaps 1.5 miles one way total, 3 miles round trip end to end on the edge of the Truckee River. I have not been there for months. It will look much different in a couple of months when spring is here. Then it will be very green compared to the way it now looks.

Lockwood is right off I-80, Exit 22, seven miles east of here. Reno, Sparks and then Lockwood.

I thought so, but thought I would ask because the news media sometimes tends to over report...........hahhaha

Are you having corned beef and cabbage today or a nice spicy curry?

When people tell me how much they won, I say it doesn't count unless you're counting for the year. Much like the way the IRS does it.

Also, when people tell me how much they won, I figure their loses over the year are several times that amount.

Casinos are not in business to give money away.

Had a friend who worked for me and we drank together in our younger days. He'd gamble on lots of things, poker machines, lottery etc. He'd always point out how much he won occasionally But I saw how much he spent daily and I can do math. He never could understand that he was getting more and more behind. He would only count what he spent the day he won, not the week or two preceding.

Yeah, just ask them how much they had to pay the IRS for their gambling winnings at the end of the year.

If we all went by how much people have told us they have won at the casinos, every casino would be out of business.

I hate cabbage, I can tolerate corned beef, but don't really care for it.

I love any type of curry.

But I had neither for my lunch. Weather is lousy here, windy at 40°F today, so I am staying home.

I didn't make anything fancy for today's lunch (I rarely do) but here are some photos I took just for you:

I first looked to see what I had; I found this in my freezer here:

So I pan fried a couple of them:

Then melted some cheese on top, covered, one at a time:

And put them on hamburger buns and ate them:

Simple and easy, as I usually do for any meal I make at home. I eat out a lot, often at Denny's. like yesterday when I was in Carson City, before driving back to Reno.

My hubby LOVES steak-ums. We always have some in the freezer. Hahah

I always eat spaghetti when he does steak-ums. I hate those creepy things!

I made pizza dough Monday to rise slowly in the fridge and today I am making pizza.

Topping for hubby's side: pepperoni, salami, and onion.

My side: pepperoni, salami, onion, sliced bell peppers and black olives.

Sorry, no pineapple here today for YOU! hahahha

Well, are ya seeing advertisements?

Oh, we were putting together a grill stand that had those screws that look like Phillips screws and aren't.

I felt like a genius explaining about that.

He only stripped one before I explained it but he got it in with needle nosed lock pliers. Shoo!

The others went in okay.

I am seeing a lot more than I used to before the forum change when I use Edge. But I only need Edge to view my cameras at my Reno house, because they require the IE Mode that only Edge can do (AFAIK). So having the more advertisements backfired on it all if that was part of the deal, because it has forced me to use the Brave Browser which doesn't show advertisements. I don't mind advertisements much until they start blocking stuff I need to read.

I thank Lou for mentioning Brave because that is the first time I heard about Brave. It works a lot better than add blockers because many forums and other things force me to turn off the add blocker to continue. Brave is not detected as an add blocker.

Is that Grill Stand made in China or Japan? Japan doesn't use Phillips at all, AFAIK, but China uses JIS as well as Philips. Imagine the billions of screw heads destroyed by people using Philips on JIS heads from not knowing about JIS.

When I first encountered them, I was ill-equipped. Lacking a real hardware store close by and nowhere to source them locally I was tasked with trying various size allen and philips heads. It was a while before they were ubiquitous.

Trox have been around since the late 1960's. But I know what you mean, as I can recall the very first time I saw them, when I went to change the brake pads in a car (in the mid 1970's) which had Torx-size 50 screws to hold in the calipers. I went to the local Grand Auto store and bought a set of torxdrivers.

can even be purchased in Dollar Stores (which now cost $1.25 for everything).

Do you think they will spend the money to change the signs to the $1.25 store?
I guess soon they can just add one zero and call it the 10.00 store?

That will be easier than calling it the $1.25 store. hahaha

Remember when we were laughing about that. Oh my goodness.

You're replying to a post that is three years old! Yeah, the way inflation is going, the wait won't be long before everything is ten bucks. The Ten Dollar Store.

I am about ready to do what I did yesterday. Take a long motorcycle ride. Around 250 miles (round trip) yesterday on my 1,000 lb Harley to Lovelock, NV and then south to Fallon on Hwy 95 (Lovelock Hwy).

Today, I am taking a ride to Greenville, CA. Right after I post this message. The last time I was there it looked like this. That time I took my 1971 BMW R75/5. Today, I am taking my 2013 Triumph Throphy SE there.

I want to see if they rebuilt the place. I am leaving right after I post this. 103 miles to get there.

Perfect motorcycle riding weather here all this week.
