Received our first electric bill from the ‘new to us’ campground where each site has a meter. Our rv is a 1995 Fleetwood Bounder, 35 UWB. Two rooftop a/c’s dual fuel refrigerator, gas water heater. Gas cooktop & oven.
We relocated to this campground on Aug. 23, got all set up around 2pm, stayed the weekend, locked everything up, turned power off inside, and shut off all breakers at the pedestal on August 26, around noon. Got word yesterday, our electric bill for August is $25.74 Granted, the first couple days the temps were near 100, but significantly cooler Sunday and Monday, we are parked ‘mostly’ in the shade.
Does this dollar figure seem out of line?
This will be the first campground we stay at, where long term sites are responsible for electricity.

How much did you have to run AC for that time? It seems a little high for that short of time. It is possible that the electric company has a minimum amount per month as well.

Both a/s ran most of the time during the day.
The bill is from the campground, they get one big bill from the power company, they installed their own meters at every pedestal.

Not sure but will find out, only got a text on the dollar amount.
I know some States do not allow a ‘mark-up’ for electric resellers such as campgrounds, not sure if Texas is one of those States.

You'd need to look at the details of the actual bill, there may be connections charges, standby charges, base fuel adjustments, infrastructure upgrade costs, etc.

Sometimes, even in our S&B home we are billed even when we are on the road for months and have the main break off, and sometimes some companies have monthly averaging based on what their customer base is consuming - those monthly averages are smoothed out in subsequent billing sessions.

Or, the electricity is expensive...

Either way, not knowing what you're paying for can be alarming.

Did not know what ECROT meant so googled.
ERCOT ensures reliable electric service for 90% of the state of Texas and continues to set new records as demand grows. View the fact sheet ...

Right. Reliable electric service... Uh Ha.. Real reliable.

I fight ERCOT regs daily commissioning new voltage regulators and generators in the power plants in Texas. I have to go to Brazos in Weatherford in a few days. I got my Alpine so I could use it to travel around to plants with the wife and dogs.

The campground might also charge a small admin fee, someone pays for the individual meters. I'm sure a simple call will clear it up. But 3 days, $25 seems a bit high, but then again, I'm in the midwest coal country still.

At our semi-permanent (year round) site in Florida, we’re responsible for metered electric and, even when we’re not there for an entire month, there’s a minimum amount of around $25. I believe it’s to cover electric use in the common areas, clubhouse, pool heat and filter, fountain in the lake, etc.

I’ve checked with neighbors and apparently we all get that charge.

They probably have a minimum charge. However, since the campground owns the meters and infrastructure, they can add charges for equipment and maintenance.

Ok that is different than our campground. We are metered as well but billed directly from power company. We only have 1 AC unit and are there for mostly just weekends and I know that our bill is quite a bit higher when we need to use the AC a lot. We have a floor model in a bedroom in our extra room attached to our camper and our bill was really high the month we had guests in there for only 3 nights.

That bill is high for four days, but who knows what special charges or minimums you have. Our bill in FL (3 ton AC , elec water heater, etc.) runs just over $100 per month, but our rate is only $0.12 per KWH. Some places run as much as three times that or more. Note that we now have a park model, but our cost when we had a diesel pusher was similar.
You need to know the KWH rate.
