2013 Winnebago V 10 engine, over head cam..Tapplng noise on drivers side.It sounds like a lifter. The longer you drive it the louder it gets. This engine does not have lifters.Any ideals ? Possible a stuck valve?
Thanks,
Ron

Cracked exhaust manifold or blown manifold gasket, get it running and investigate that area. It can also be a loose spark plug, both are common issues for V10

Oh yes it does have lifters. Just try Googling Ford V10 lifters and see what comes up.

Also, from a little searching, it appears that the V10 does appear to have an issue with the exhaust studs coming loose and causing leaks.

A valve lash adjuster (aka Lifter) that doesn't pump up can cause ticking noises due to lash in the rocker arm.

Thanks,I learned something new today.I will keep you informed what I find.

I think you are conflating a valve lash adjuster with a valve lifter. OHC engines like the V10 have the adjuster but not an actual lifter. Lifters are used in pushrod-type engines. That may be academic for this discussion - I think either one could make a noise.

There are some reports on the ford v10 that high revving can cause issues. Steep grades and high revs from engine braking can contribute. There can be a lot of things that can contribute to noises as you describe. I have seen similar issues in some vehicles from things interfering with enough oil lubricating the top end. If you havent checked the oil level or done an oil change recently that is worth a try.

Anything we can suggest is just a guess. If you think the problem is serious hopefully you kbow a good mechanic who can look at it.

The v10 is a good engine but any engine can have things break or wear out.

Has anyone heard of a bad heated PVC valve or split hose making a tapplng sound, remove it from the valve cover and the noise stops.Re connect it and the Tapplng starts again
PS. The valve is heated by coolant.
