Strange thing happens when the door has been left open for awhile in order to load up fridge for a trip. The compressor shuts off and doesn't seem to come back on again until door is shut again and some time has passed and it eventually comes back on. Of course the temp starts rising in the fridge while compressor is not running. Control panel lights are on as normal along with interior light. Hope its not defective as its a brand new replacement.

I have no clue,, but I suspect its made to behave like that for a reason.. If its brand new then you may find the reason in your manual.>>>Dan

I have not RTFMed but it makes sense to me to shut the compressor down with the door open.
Double that on a 12 volt model Ok Read the Factory Manual.. I did not see any reference to the motor shutting off with door open... (Though as I said makes sense) I did see reference to a display of error codes and that might be ... informative.. if a code shows.

Oh and as to another thread about performance.

SMART COOLING MODEThe refrigerator will adjust the temperature automatically according to the ambient temperature and the temperatureinside the refrigerator, you do not have to choose the temperature by yourself, save your time and effort.+

That's a pretty common design among compressor-driven fridges, whether home or RV. It prevents the compressor from running non-stop while the door is open. Typically they restart within a minute of the door closing, though.

The moral of the story is "don't leave the door open so long".
