EVERYONE GOOD IN FLORIDA

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an RV or an interest in RVing!
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
My daughter is in Fleming Island, had some wind driven tree damage, the neighbors tree dropped a limb on the RV Port and punctured the roof. No damage to RV. Not sure whose insurance pays the tree owner or the her?

I am pretty sure Gary moved out of Ocala area to west Palm area. Being on the east coast helped in this one.
Ordinarily it's the owner of the structure the tree fell on.

They are 10 minutes from me. If you wish, PM me with names, site number, tel number and I will take a ride over and check on them.
Thanks for the offer, I txted her last night, her and her son had came home/here last month. They're going down in 2 weeks, friends said there was no damage in the park but they're going down anyway for the winter.

We have a good friend that lives in Asheville. So far, we've been unable to contact her or her daughter that lives with her. Her out of state son has also been unable to make contact.
Our son is able to use FB Messenger and his cell phone so we know he’s okay. He had to go out the other day and clear fallen trees from the road so he could get to town. There was no power in Galax but Harbor Freight was open hand writing receipts.
That awful about your friend in Asheville. Not being able to contact friends and family during disasters is so stressful.

Im so very sorry over the loss of lives from this storm . I just read the death toll at 116 so far. We lived in south Fl back in 1970 and went tru 1 storm and where we live in Tx get the rain from the coastal landfalls along the Gulf. . With all the warnings I just can't understand the high loss of life.

It's because a good portion of the casualties were in western NC and Tenn and a few in upstate SC. No one in their wildest dreams would have though a storm making landfall in Big Bend, Fla would do so much damage in Ashville, NC. They forecast 16" of rain and instead got 30" in some places. There's no telling when they will have I26 and I40 open again.

Photos and video of the creek at our son’s place in Virginia. Some photos of the New River.
First photo is a cattle ranch on the New River. Looks like Debris from flooding caught in the fence and buildings. Second photo is tree down just before the bridge over the river. Third photo is showing where the water crested the bridge. Fourth photo is why the power is out. Fifth photo is the creek spilling its banks at our son’s property. Last photo is bridge over New River.

Why it is some people interpret a "road closed, high water" sign as a challenge??? Water is the most powerful force on earth.
Helene is still racking up causalities, authorities still haven't accessed remote areas in some states. Damage estimates are approaching $200 Billion with over 140 dead.

My sister lives about halfway between Orlando and Tampa and said it wasnt too bad there. High winds and some trees down but better than she expected.

Saw this sattelite pic of the aftermath. Cool pic but it highlights the extent and location of the damage. Gonna be a while before things get back to normal for so many people

Been reading lots of postings on Telegram, and western
NC, and far eastern TN is a near complete wipeout. FEMA has been an abject failure, local police note dead bodies in cars, hanging in trees, under rubble. Death toll could easily surpass 2,000 within the next couple weeks.
Dept of Defense is denying releasing military personnel to help, citing the troops ‘have to be available for a foreign deployment at any time’.

I reserve the right to revise, and extend my remarks.

Where are you getting your info? When i search for what you posted i find the exact opposite. This disaster is bad enough without introducing politics

I think you should investigate your sources to understand their motives.

I believe you are mistaken about the dod denying assistance. There are stories about that happening in relation to other events but i cant find a single report of that in regards to the hurricane.

1,000 active duty military have been sent to help with the hurricane disaster. The governors form all states affected except Florida have said the federal governments response has been spot on. There are dozens of private pilots with helicopters helping with relief efforts and evacuating folks stranded. Military helicopters are too large to get into many of the areas affected.

Our friend's son in VA was able to make intermittent text contact with her, and reported to us that they're ok, but have no power. Minimal damage to her house, and they're using water from their flooded yard to flush the toilet and boil for drinking using a propane camp stove supplied by a neighbor. We still have not been able to get any messages through though.

Down here in Florida, we had word yesterday of another Hurricane forming in the Gulf off the coast of Mexico and heading toward Florida. Also, there is little or no money for Disaster aid. Here is a Link to an update on the new storm heading. This is a Weather Video Link. In one report, I learned that the death toll sadly is now up to over 200 for Hurricane Helene. Teams still have issues getting into parts of the NC and TN areas. The National Guard was activated to reopen Ports by the Florida Governor and then learned the Sea Port Closings have been put on hold until Jan 2025 due to providing some aid and relief to hurricane-affected areas. Best of Luck to fellow members, and I hope to read some posts you have all made contact with absent family members soon. May the Good News be your own. fl new h.jpg
