I have a Jayco 1007, with a king side slide out on one side. Under the slide out are the two supports that both attach at the hitch. I've never had an issue, but I'm always super concerned that these little support bars aren't enough to hold a bed of that size.

Anybody else share my concern?
Has anyone added any additional support for a king slide? And if so, what was your system?

I think you'd be surprised just how much weight that setup will hold.

The struts are in compression in their axis. Maybe if they were bent or kinked you'd have an issue but otherwise it's very low on the problem list.

My 1st popup had that style supports back in 1979. That same design is still being used today after 46 years so I guess it still works.

We had pop ups with this style of bed support for 15-18 years. Never an issue even with 4 kids wrestling on the bed. We just checked for rust that might weaken them, but never had an issue.

Assuming you mean a bed only slide as in the pictures posted by Gwinger, there is no reason for concern. We, and many others have used the supplied support for popup and hybrid bed slides for many years and I have never seen a post about some problem resulting from them failing. They can be bounced out by bedroom acrobatics if you are creative. I know someone who did that. :whistling:
