As we used to say in the olde country - the times we see distant family & friends are weddings and funerals.
Yesterday Chris and I attended the Celebration Of Life for long-time friend Ernie Macintyre, Music Director of the Delta Strummers and prior Music Director of the Summerset Singers. The 150 or so attendees included numerous mutual friends from the Sea Ray Club, in addition to 45 or so Delta Strummers at the Summerset IV Orchards Lodge.
A sad day made a little brighter by fond memories & stories related by family and friends, and photos/videos projected on a large screen. The Macintyre family were dressed in Highland garb (the men in kilts), recognizing that Ernie and his brother emigrated from Scotland to the US at an early age with their parents.
The Delta Strummers were honored to perform a couple of Ernie's favorite songs, accompanied by one of Ernie's grandsons playing his grandfather's ukulele. The event ended with a performance by a Scottish bagpiper.
Ernie and his wife Dana were also RVers.
