I have a 1989 bounder motorhome with a faulkner ultra awning and when i went to unlock the awning it just slam open with no resistant. It also wont retract unless I roll it up by hand. I know one of the springs were broke as it rolled up slow and i guess the other side has let go.. i have the manual for the awning and its generic. From model 5008 to 5025. For the model number faulkner shows the ultra starts with 50 and the last two numbers is the size of the bar in feet. my bar measures 16 feet so my model should be 5016. There’s a diagram for the parts # in the manual, and it shows the left and right springs as part number 6598 and 6599 For all the ultra models. Does anybody know if they use the same size spring for all the models on the ultra? Also, does anybody know any places where they sell used fulkner springs. I live in vancouver canada. If I can’t find used parts for this, is there another option for putting on another awning without drilling new holes in the RV? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I would think that buying used springs could a a good thing or a bad thing. You have no idea how old they are. They could break easily the next time you extend the awning. Get some new springs

Faulkner awnings were discontinued along time ago so new is not and option and used is hard to find.
