Favorite Coffee Brands and Brewing Habits

McDonald's probably has the best tasting coffee of any restaurant, IMO.

Agreed! Up here in Canada anyway! So many people are "hooked" on Tim Horton's coffee. I prefer the McDonald's!

At home we buy some Costco branded beans and grind them before making a pot. There is nothing better than a freshly opened bag of beans and the coffee you get from it. Maybe I should store the beans in a different container to try and keep that experience going throughout all of the beans?

When camping in the trailer we use a coffee perk similar to the one in the link below. The smell of that coffee brewing and its taste can't be matched! Dad had an older aluminum one in the trailer when he passed away and the kids got us a newer one for Christmas this past year.

I usually have 2 or 3 cups in the morning but no more throughout the day.

I used to use Peet’s Major Dickson brand in a Keurig. Now with new super automatic coffee machine I pour in whole beans, locally roasted “Painters blend” and it grinds it per cup. The crema settles out to a beautiful froth on top, and the Jura brew process has no acid or bitter taste.

this has nothing to do with making coffee from the beans but I noticed at the perfume sections of the big stores there is a cup that you sniff and it kills the previous perfume smell instantly before you test another and guess what, it's coffee beans.

Try the “airscape” container on Amazon, conforms to the amount of beans so very litttle air!

Within seconds it turns to regular black coffee. Jura is used in high end restaurants and breakfast buffets around the world, Swiss/german machine I think, can try it at Williams Sonoma…

I was a big time coffee drinker until I went to work at Hewlett Packard in their programming department. omg! Their coffee was the worst! It literally tasted like olive brine. No, I like olive brine. That coffee turned me into a tea drinker.

They also had donuts every day. HPs culture was that everybody went to the break room at 10AM and 2PM. IF I was working on a particularly thorny problem I would try to stay at my desk. Nope! No allowed.

The donuts came from a local Palo Alto bakery and when they were delivered the security guy would announce it over the PA system with a variety of announcements. My favorites were “The belly bombs have arrived” and “The belly bomb truck is making a strafing run”. After my first 6 months there a group of us convinced HP to add fresh fruit to the break time selections.

That was in 1973. I still can’t stand donuts.

But coffee? Oh yeah! French Roast. Black. I drank a big thermos of it every day until 2017. No more coffee or any thing with caffeine in it. Still love the smell of it though.

I like Black Rifle also. But not my favorite. It will do when I cannot find Italian Roast or Major Dickason's which has happened on a few of my RV trips.

I also like the Black Rifle YouTubes. But perhaps too political to post here, so I won't.

I can barely recall Tim Horton's, but I know Tom & I have stopped there for a light snack--I cannot remember if we had their coffee, but we probably did. That was too long ago to remember well.

I'm not a connoisseur but I drink a lot. All day until bedtime I will have a cup on the go.

I have a cheap Walmart capsule maker with a ground basket. It small and compact and sometimes I carry it in my suitcase.

I drink Folgers Black Silk lately. I keep some Colombian capsules around.

I have Juan Valdez or Maxwell house classic instant for back up.

I like milk and Splenda but have coffeemate powder for backup.

I got hooked on the Jura coffee machines at a previous work. I would drive 40 minutes going to work sans coffee to drink that brew! Then would drink that coffee all day long for some 7 years.
No acid or bitter taste so can make it very strong without side effects.

Once I could not find either, and I noticed a very large stock on Peet's Major Dickason's Blend. So I tried it and it became my new favorite coffee.

But the other day at the Wally-Mart across the street here, they did Not have "Peet's Major Dickason's Blend dark roast" But they had "Major Dickason's Dark Roast". I have never seen that before. It is different and the bottom of the box is red, instead of brown. And says "deep notes of Earth and Spice" unlike the blend that just says "Flavorful, Robust, Full-bodied" for the tasting notes which is not saying much of anything, IMO.

Anyway, with this non-blend Peet's Major Dickason's it does taste quite a bit different than the blend. But between the two, I cannot decide which I like best. It has always seemed to me that Peet's has the best flavor of all coffees, regardless of type. It's a toss-up, but I like either better than the Italian Roast that used to be my favorite.

Every time I hear they've released the results of their latest, extensive tests about the health effects of coffee... I await the verdict holding my breath... but, it seems study after study only comes up with good news for us coffee drinkers!
