Over the years I have ran into a number of "Beatles experts". They would claim they know everything about the Beatles because they were such huge fans. So I would challenge them to take my 10 Question Beatles Trivia. Most everyone would get one right at the most. My favorite question was what song did this lyric originate in:

"The duke was having problems with a message at the local Bird and Bee"

No one ever knew the answer to that one. That is one of my all time favorite lyrics. There are two more that come to mind:

"Now all the unfinished dreams on the unmade beds are ungathered blackberries in my head" --- from Red Octopus - Jefferson Starship, Sweeter Than Honey

And my all time favorite:

"Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream" --- Pink Floyd, Animals LP, Sheep

What are your favorite lyrics?

That was written about the riots on Sunset Strip. I was on Sunset that night cruzing. But I left before the action started. I left around 10:30 and the riots started around 1 pm. Great song and great lyrics from Mr Steven Stills.

One of my favorites came from shortly after I retired from the Air Force and got my first civilian job. The new hires had to go through a "OPSEC" (Operational Security) briefing. The guy doing this briefing was also retiree AF, and was a great speaker. He know how to deliver a speech. Anyway, he talked about creating a good password, and the password he used as his example was "TsnY,ic". The parentheses were actually part of the password. Back in those days (2000), the passwords were still "8 characters, mix of upper and lowercase, and a number". Anyway, he promised a free beer to whoever could figure it out. After a couple of hints (and yeah, a little cheating...no Google back then, but we still had Internet search), I guessed it. Bob Dylans Tombstone Blues, "The sun's not yellow, it's chicken". So his teaching moment was, pick some lyrics from a song, and grab the first letter of each word to create your password. Brilliant. And a great way to remember your password!

Blow up your TV
Throw away your paper
Go to the country
Build you a home
Plant a little garden
Eat a lot of peaches
Try an' find Jesus on your own"

Hey Tom , even without googling, I read that fist lyric and said to myself, "Cry Baby Cry", simple, and I'm not a particularly huge fan of the Beatles(just been listening to them for 50 years).
Then you blew me away because I AM a big PF fan and I didn't recognize the lyric from Sheep.

My favorite lyric? Probably from Breathe(PF)

Long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
Balanced on the biggest wave
You race towards an early grave
