Could be anywhere. Originally from Ohio. Go Bucks!
We’ve both had careers that allowed us to work remote for a long time before then, but in June 2016 we started doing our work from an RV full time. We pulled the plug on those careers June, 2024. We both assumed we’d downsize once we didn’t need office space in the rig. But Rosie’s comfortable and paid for… we may downsize some day, but for now, we’re staying with her. But that said, we’re going to upgrade some things (furniture, tires, batteries and such). I’ll make separate posts about those as I’ve always advised newcomers to make separate posts for different topics and should follow my own advice.

I will say, it seems we’ve been busier since June than we ever were while working. We’re tackling heath issues that have been put off. We changed our residence state from Ohio to Florida. So we either need to have medical needs addressed with existing doctors in Ohio OR establish new physicians in Florida. So far, it’s been case, by case. Laura is still on her employer’s health insurance and I’m on original Medicare with a Medigap (supplement) plan; so we’re able to get claims covered wherever we want. I’ve had one hip replaced (2014) and the orthopod told me I would need the other done and to come back when it hurts bad enough. I recognize the recently increasing pain as what led to the first replacement. I’m hopeful that I can hold off getting that addressed until we’re back in Florida (October), but I need to get established with an orthopod there quickly. Laura has her own issues that she’s had addressed in Ohio, but is planning on continuing to address in Florida as well.

I have to say, I’m SO happy we began our nomad life while still working. Had we waited until now (retirement), with all the health issues, I seriously doubt we would have been willing to start it now.

Good for you two. Time to go play.
But I find that in my 21 years of being off the clock, retirement is not what I thought it would be.
Repair the house, repair the MH (LOF), repair the car, mow the lawn, repair the lawn tractor, go to the doctor, go to the doctor, go to the doctor, go to the store for food, go to the pharmacy for meds. It never ends. But if it does end, I go to my maker. DUH.........

Lately, we go to the doctor.

Retiring in my low 50’s. Starting my own gig so I could maintain an income but knowing I could survive without has been awesome. Plan ahead its worth it in the long run.

And the cheapest RV is the one that is paid for.
Not always. I need to pay the state of NV close to a couple of thousand bucks every year for my paid-for motorhome:

The first year was more than 2K$ in property tax.

Last year:

Vehicle Make: JAYCO, INC.
Vehicle Year: 2022
Vehicle Model: VISION
Registration Expiration Date: 9/21/2024
Transaction Confirmation Number: 169460074
Payment Confirmation Number: 6903091333866764103087
Amount Paid: $1,859.80

This year:

Vehicle Make: JAYCO, INC.
Vehicle Year: 2022
Vehicle Model: VISION
Registration Expiration Date: 9/21/2025
Transaction Confirmation Number: 169260074
Payment Confirmation Number: 69030913324866767989262

Congratulations to you both. Hope you get those health issues under control soon so you can fully enjoy retirement!

All I can say is Congrats! Wife and I did the same. Over my 30 years in corporate employ, company politics got really bad. I quit my corporate job for my own gig In my low 50's as well and life was good again. Wife and I retired completely at 73 and have been enjoying life ever since..
It seems my health improved as well!!

Safe travels and all the best.

Congrats on your retirement! I retired January 14, 2021. I thought I'd take life "easy." Like you, my wife and I worked 100% remote, the last few years of my employment (and Covid years), work was 100% remote and almost 100% on the road.... somewhere....

Well, retirement hit, I picked up a couple camp host gigs at a couple absolutely great locations and find I'm busier now than I ever was when I was working full time for money!

I can't say I did not like my job. I did. But volunteering as a camp host is something I always wanted to do, but could not because of that "four letter word".... (work). So now, even though I'm busier and more active than I ever was before, I'm finally living my dream!

You will too! The adventure is JUST beginning! Again, Congrats! and Happy Camping!

Congratulations!!! So far I've avoided any hip or knee surgery. I take a prescription-grade fish oil 3x/D and it's helped. My knees and hips have been painful for 30 years now. Since I retired Army Infantry I'm not complaining, I assumed this would happen; but now @ 82 a 100 yard dash takes me 10 minutes.

Congrats! When we retired we became raspberry farmers. For 10 years. Covid killed that. Now we’re genuinely retired! It’s great! Have chocolate cake for breakfast see how decadent that feels!

Leaving the great state of Ohio?! We looked at that too! Going to explore South Carolina before we commit to Florida. Still considering boat life…

When things settle we should meet somewhere and have lunch!

Happy trails!

Happy to meet up sometime, somewhere.
In Michigan now, going to work our way over to the Finger Lakes (NY) in September, then follow the leaf change south and end up in Florida in October or November.

Sounds like a good plan. We're stuck here at home in Indiana, too many health problems prevent traveling out-of-state. I have our MH ready to go JIC though.
