LE: I have a 43', 21,000 lb 5th wheel trailer I pull with a 3500 HD, dually, 2WD, diesel and I have not had much trouble with where I've been. More and more parks are doing upgrades and additions and opening these new areas all the time to handle the bigger trailers. I usually boondock when I'm enroute to a specific area and have not had much trouble with that. I have the Onan, 7 kw generator installed.
I have plenty of margin in all of my weight ratings. And my Silverado 3500 handles my trailer very well. I made the trip to Alaska with it and had no trouble at all. My weights are posted here somewhere. To save you the trouble searching, I'll send you a copy if you'd like get one example of all the weights. Just send me a message in a new conversation.
Yes, there are some parks that still have size limits. Many of them are national, state, county, and even city parks. But there always was a commercial park nearby that I could get into.
So I would suggest you not let the size be the determining factor on what you buy, or don't buy. Buy what you want and be happy you did, even if you can't get into the specific park you would like. But you still have to live with what you buy in every park. You might as well be happy with it.
