I manage the Forest Service campgrounds in Bishop Canyon and Big Pine canyon.
Last year the fish at the hatchery they normally use caught some kind of disease and had to be destroyed. They were stocking the creeks on a regular basis from some hatchery in Oregon. They stocked regularly, but with a lot fewer fish than I would have expected.
As far as the lakes, every time we drove up and walked around Sabrina, you could see schools of them in the water at the dam. Seemed like there was plenty there.
Hopefully, they got all that cleared up and the fishing will be better this year. Fish opener is the weekend of April 24th, and we're going to try and get most of the campgrounds open by the 22nd(North Lake depends on the county opening the road, and Sabrina depends on snow load). Come on up and give us another shot.
You can stop by and visit me at the RRM office in Forks campground.
