Left Florida on May 9th for my 60th birthday bash in Arizona. May 9 to 10 was a mad dash to Phoenix. I10 through west Tennessee was absolutely terrible and felt like 100 miles of construction. We were two drivers and only stopped for gas and one 3 hour sleep stop in a rest area.
Somewhere in Texas
Overnighted at Camping World in Mesa before heading up to Meadview on the 11th.
Mead view is in the Joshua national forest and I can recommend for desert hikes, amazing star fields and sunsets. We saw cows, donkeys, long horn sheep, roadrunner and a lot of different birds. In the Area are some fun things to do. The Grand Canyon western ranch had nightly s’mores and campfire sing-alongs. We went for lunch and KC the singer gave us a private show. We also went to the town and the boat ramp. Incredible scenery.

I tried my hand at goat roping. I sucked...
Goat Roper
The days got over 100 but the nights were desert cool. We had a fire every night.
Campfire
For my birthday (the 13th) we rented a boat at Temple bar Marina. Reasonable price and a lot of fun.
Boat Ride
After boating we drove into Vegas and stayed at the Mirage for one night. One thing I promised myself post covid was a really good steak. We went to Morton’s for dinner and while trying to decide which old guy would have the heart attack a 30 something dude at the next table stroked out and had to be medivaced out. I think God aimed at one of us and missed.
Bone in Filet!
Game Room
The 14th we headed back to Meadview stopping at a desert burger joint for a late lunch. I love roadside diners and this place didn’t disappoint.
Burgers
Of course I knew better but I didn’t roll the awning when we overnighted in Vegas and the desert wind blew up in the afternoon of our return and ripped it off. I climbed the roof and we cut it down. Also with all the terrible road we drove Marvins charcoal can broke it’s bracket and was hanging down at a gas stop. I zip tied it up and hopefully it will get us home.
Another lesson learned. I had left the grey valve open as usual but after e days Mark noted water back up in the shower! I had stored some grey water to flush the black hose. That all worked fine but what I didn’t know is I had been throwing fine coffee grounds in the sink. They ended up accumulating and at the end of the grey flush completely blocked the pipe upstream of the knife valve. I had to removed the pipe joint and let her blow like Moby Dick - LOL. No more coffee grounds in the grey tank LOL.
We are now back in Mesa. Hanging with my buddy Rob. Mark and I head back tomorrow and we plan I40 going back and we are planning to slow down and get some sightseeing in on the way back.
All good fun and Marvin is doing great for a 25 year old.
